Kalidou Koulibaly

Fixed it :) could be games tho where we see either Laporte or Ake at LB and the other as the LCB.

Great time hopefully :)

Hopefully Laporte will regain a yard of sharpness but he will have to.

Just having one fast cb out of the two provided thebother isn't dead slow, is often enough, so imo both Laporte & Stones could be redeemed, playing next to quick partners in a balanced back 4 & getting their mojo back.

But if we have a policy of standing like staues & sticking our hands in the air, to save the slouches from having to run, we could have Usain Bolt there & he wouldn't be quick enough.

No thanks Napoli.60 mill for a 29 year old who maybe has 3 years left in the game? I dont think so!

Liverpool for example. VVD is quick for a CB but the neither fullbacks have that much pace. They seem to be doing alright with their high line.

Liverpool don't rely on an offside trap, they use offside to help catch players out, then also try to drop back & defend it, when required, exactly as I'm advocating we do.

Van Dijk often drops off yards behind, to cover danger, which you can't do, in a mugs offside gane like we are using, to cover for the fact that our cbs can't defend.

Nothing wrong with catching people offside, provided it's not your only hope of defending.

Wonder why no club tried for Upamecano, surely the better option, he's played in CL too, and been largely consistent. Twice his clause has been low and I'm surprised we haven't had a look

To shift the perspective just a little bit I'd like to remind
that our "mess" of a defence just conceded 2 more goals
compared to the world's best defence of the PL w*nner over 38 matches and less than any.other.PL team.

I hope Koulibaly signs for us but the dramatical consequences if or if not is a bit much for me.
A deal won't ruin the club, too. I'm relaxed.

We can sign the whole world but it's meaningless before we grow a pair in big matches.

We mainly lack in terms of consistent attitude and desire like - it hurts to say but it's sooo true - current teams like Liverpool and Bayern.
As Klopp said in his warning to the PL - focus on attitude and desire.

THAT is where City should concentrate on for future transfers and it seems they do.

Media reporting that Napoli have dropped their asking price - is this all just being played out and he will eventually sign for us despite their chairmans precious posturings that ehe would sell him for less than 90m?

Or just don't play a rigid offside & have the instinct to know when to drop back, rather than start in a defensive position then rush forward to play offside in our own half, as our game reader did for the 2nd goal v Lyon.
We will never have an effective offside line as long as walker has a hole in his arse.
he is constantly A yard behind the Center backs.

It's too risky not to do it.

See last season.

He's the best. Ideally he'd be 27 but at 29 he still has 3 years or so in him.

They're also reporting that reports that City have agreed a fee are also false/premature.

Wait for interest from other clubs. It's almost inevitable. I'd be surprised if one of PSG, Real Madrid or Bayern don't move for him given their defender's ages.

If we’re buying young to supplement a squad then fair enough. If we’re buying to fix an apparent deficiency then I disagree with you. Given on past experiences we know the club don’t buy in order to get money back if the signing fails. We have many examples of that, particularly when we bargain shopped due to ffp earlier, although ffp now will have minimal impact on our signings (unless club planning on spending really stupid money).
I’ve also never bought a car, thinking what I’ll get when I flog it. Wish I has right enough.
I didn't say "buy in order to get money back", simply that being able to recover money is a sensible consideration as with anything in life. It's not the sole intent or consideration, absolutely not, but it is a by product of a good, sensible, resilient transfer strategy.

We purposefully buy younger players in general, as it's the best of both worlds; they either do well and stay (Kompany, Silva, Aguero through to De Bruyne, Sterling and multiple others) or they don't and we recover money (Danilo, Delph and to a lesser extent Sane).

This dude ain’t gonna magically make us water tight, we will still lose possession and teams will still break and go one on one with EDERSON who will try to save it with his feet. We will still be caught napping , we need a decent shield in front of kk and laporte
Has he shagged your dog or something, you have an obsession with him, stick to your alpaca or is it allison
