How on earth do you know that? Mahrez is a more experienced player, a Premier League winner and it took him longer to adapt than most. It depends on the person and their character and how quickly they pick up new ideas and concepts, not age and experience.Huge advantage with Koulibaly is also his age and experience. Pep won't need to teach him a lot. He will understand well and slot right in without needing to adapt per se.
Big difference. Mahrez came from a Leicester side where he was the star player and played in an entirely different, counter attacking system. Hence he struggled adapting to playing majority weeks vs low blocks and having so much to do off and on the ball with linkup play. How on earth do you know that? Internal competition for places is what helps drive standards, just look at Sterling's comments about City bringing in new wingers and how it pushed him on even further. The same has happened with Walker, Cancelo comes in and Walker's upped his game again. We're doing the same I think with Zack Steffen to push Ederson. Jesus coming in made Aguero step up and change his game to Pep's demands.Age isn't a big concern to me.
After 5 years, it means some of the youth CBs have a chance to break through, earliest of them all is Tosin.
The academy has 4 great CBs from what I've read: THB, CJ, Luke, and Finley.
That all helps absolutely and the fact he speaks better English than 90% of the posters on here will help too but he's still moving to a new country, a different culture and way of life. Age and experience is irrelevant in those circumstances, players can move at 14 and settle quickly, others can be 30+ and not settle at all, it's all about personality and character.Big difference. Koulibaly's best football came under Sarri's system, which is a budget version of Pep's, if he was good under that system with barely half the quality, I can't imagine him being worse under Pep. Adaptability is something you can factor in but that's where I think it's less important because of his age and experience, in terms of playing our football, the more he plays the quicker he gets used to it anyway.
