I think he'd be a decent signing. It's hard to get too excited about a CDM when our headline transfer this window is Haaland.
Rodri's a beast but we can't hammer him for 90 mins for every match of the season and expect him not to get exhausted or injured or out of form. A bit more rotation and competition would be great for him.
And Phillips seems a solid player. Decent passer, tough tackler, and under Bielsa he gained a good amount of experience of learning and sticking to a manager's detailed plan. Adds to the homegrown player tally in a position where we don't have a load of talent coming through the EDS ready to step up just yet. Knows and gets on with and has experience playing with our English players.
I'm not overly concerned about his recent injury record - reports coming out of Leeds suggest he's basically been run into the ground. It's not recurring injuries, it's a couple of years in which he's picked up three different injuries whilst otherwise playing constantly. The fact he doesn't seem to have had any injuries before that should give reasonable reassurance that he's not got any underlying fitness concerns, and if we do choose to buy him and he passes his medical then we should feel pretty confident it's not an issue.
If we can get him for a price the club deems acceptable then it seems like a good move.
