This is really stretching the definition of "Prem proven". He's had two injury hit seasons in the Premier League, the second of which his club were pretty shit. The vast majority of his career has been spent in the Championship.

I'd be more inclined to call him international football proven but that doesn't really have a great ring to it.
Have a look at Leeds results with and without him

Even last season when he was missing for long spells he played in 20 matches and 20/21 season played in 29 matches so he is definitely Premier League proven.

Don't really know where to find those statistics. I had a quick flick through their losses in the 20/21 season and he played in 7 out of 15 of them, with him being unavailable for the rest. It's a bit time consuming and I've not looked at the draws but that roughly stacks up with the fact he only played half the games that season.

Gave up early on in the 21/22 season because it was taking ages and generally a stupid way of me doing it. I also realised the sample size isn't significant enough to draw any real conclusions, especially when you're not factoring in the rest of Leeds injury problems and how they aligned with the same periods of time Phillips was unavailable.

Wilfried Bony had five more Premier League games and was the same age when we signed him.

I'm certainly not saying Phillips is that level of player but, even if you disregard the silliness of the concept in general, I'm not sure he ticks enough boxes to qualify.

I would trust the club's ability to judge the potential of a player in our squad above the random Bluemoon poster. Just look at the matchday thread for the opinions on the current players who have won the premier league 4 out of the last 5 years. Our player recruitment over the last few years has been really good. See the rags for the opposite.

Maybe Khaldoon should sack Txiki as the moaners on here clearly know a lot more about football than him and Pep. If Txiki and Pep want a player I trust 100% that he is the right player and will improve the team. Philips may not be a superstar but he is a really good player with excellent passing range.and used to playing in similar style with Bielsa.

Stop being sensible!

Phillips does not have an ‘excellent passing range’.

Speak to Leeds fans who watch him week in week out and they’ll tell you the same.

The most limiting aspect of his game is his inability on the ball.

Above article from May 21 certainly proves in 20/21 season that Leeds were a better side with Phillips in the side.

Plus we won’t be standing still, as new players come in, our playing style will probably evolve once again, in order to maximise the new attacking weapons at the manager’s disposal. People need to consider how he will fit in for the next two or three seasons, not how he might have done in the previous two
