At some point you’ll get over yourself and realise that what YOU want isn’t necessarily what the MANAGEMENT want.

I’m happy to hear you know what the management wants. Everyone here acting as if he’s already signed. Should be an interesting turn of events when he ends up at Newcastle or elsewhere. Also, this is a forum where we can disagree with each other but ALSO with the club’s decision. If you YOU can’t get over yourself and accept that, then you can’t understand the point of a forum at all

I recall disagreeing with you this time last year when you were banging the drum about how brilliant Lukaku is and how he is a much better player than Kane (who we were trying to buy).

I had to take a look because there was no way that Gus, the master of knowing what player is good enough and what constitutes good business, would be banging the Lukaku drum. It's worse than I even thought. I'm starting to feel even better about thinking Phillips would be a decent signing for what we'd need. Gus hates the idea.

Well said. We have signed alot of players who were not fashionable but proved their worth. Barry,Milner and Delph to name a few. If he's cheap I say get him in..

I sometimes think that because English players were so over rated in the 00s that sometimes we underrate them now.

I was wrong about Lukaku. His head was completely messed up about the move away from Inter and Tuchel’s incompetence in getting the most from him turned out to be appalling for a manager of that level. Put him on Conte’s hand again and see what happens.

Good job we didn’t go for Lukaku then isn’t it. Honestly though, it’s beyond me how anyone can watch Lukaku and Kane and come to the conclusion Lukaku is by far the superior CF…All about opinions though.

Looks decent enough. Good engine. Is he good enough on the ball for us? Don’t know. If Leeds go down and get relegated could be a good squad player. With no fern or gundo next year we need some bodies

We don’t know how Lukaku would have done with Pep or even with Conte again at Tottenham. It’s clear the move back to Chelsea was a disaster. I think Werner could be a star in several different circumstances (even in the PL as well)

The fact that Chelsea are stuck with him and no top European team will probably go near him speaks volumes.

It won't be interesting if he goes elsewhre because nobody is saying we should buy Phillips and he should be our number one target. They are just saying they can see why we would be interested and how it would make sense, but he could be one of a few that would make similar sense.

Don’t misquote me. I’ve no idea what the management want. I’m not the **** second guessing what they want and claiming that x player is better than y player. Probably because I’m not some plastic teenager who spends too much time playing FIFA. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Winning the title a decade ago was always gonna being in new fans that can ‘monetised’ but it depressing all the same.
