Yep I agree again there are more smarter moves but somehow the club are going with Phillips (going off reading this part of the forum).

I rate him and he is worth alot more then the apparent 25mil release fee if they go down. But I can see why some people feel we should only target and sign players that will improve our starting 11. I personally would be chuffed to get him Haaland, Alvarez and Philips for under 100 mil is a great window.

But a lot of people say we shouldn’t sign a proper left back to replace zinchenko which would strengthen that position .

Though I don't want us to sign hom he may be a diamond in the rough and can become top class, but personally from watching leeds games last season when they were in much better form I found nothing to convince me he is anything special, was never that much of a blocker or had a decent range of passes, and seeked quite pedestrian.

I could say the sake for his england performances, never seemed like he was needed in the 11 except for southgates insitance on 2 holding midfieders and there not being many good ones after rice and hemderson available.

Just my opinion others ratw him?, and that is fair, if he comes I will back him as I would any signing

I definately rate him, his euro performances does suggest that he can do the job at city and he will definately improve as he will be playing with world class players and have a manager like Guordiola to oversee his development, got dino vibes about him

I am sure some in this thread have not seen him play regularly. If he was called Kalvin Phillipino be all over him. He’s what we are missing, a bit of steel, and not afraid to get stuck in. Think Pep would be the making of him.

He said that Phillips has looked abit out of sorts at leeds this seaosn as they have generally been shite and hes far too good for them and would be amazing under pep.

He does have a good engine and that bit of bite about him which we miss at times. Let’s be honest 25 million is peanuts these days if release clause is to be believed so could well prove a bargain
