Kalvin Phillips

Nunes and Kovacic have shown what Phillips is, ie complexly out of his depth.

He is simply not good enough, is always chasing the ball, his reading of the game is not good, shame because his passing ability is top quality.

I just don't think he's got the footballing IQ to play at the level we do, especially in his position.

As you say, he doesn't read the game too well. He doesn't seem to really know what positions to take up unlike Rodri, so he doesn't always give you an option to pass to him and often finds himself behind the opponent, leaving no way to pass to him. That's absolutely no good for the way we play and approach the game and what Is required in that position for our style.

I don't think he's a bad player at all and he has a nice range of passing. I think in another team who play a different style he would do well.

I just think he's not suited to us and basically I don't think he's really at the level to be playing for a team who are winning champions leagues etc. But there's no shame in that. I just feel he's a bit out of his depth.

He has my support though and I hope I'm proven wrong.
