I heard that yesterday and was cringing hard.

She obviously knows him well personally so it’s hard for her to accept that the reason he’s not playing is 100% down to him and no one else.

Pretty common in punditry though, you always see ex-pros with huge blind spots.

The section on the sheer amount of abuse Joey Barton is able to mobilise with some misogynistic tweets about someone who’s worked in top level mens football for over 20 years was pretty tragic, but not at all surprising to anyone who reads this forum.

He hasn't started more than a handful of games for a season, he is simply not good enough.

I don't understand a lot of fans these days.

We signed a player with no connection to this club for 40m pound's and pay him over 175k a week.

He has contributed NOTHING, absolutely nothing to our team, so why do people have sympathy for him?

And particularly our own fan base, the same fan base that gives a local kid like Lewis grief.

I don’t understand some fans either. They seem at their happiest constantly berating a player who we all know hasn’t worked out for us, regurgitating the same old bile day after day.

It’s not sympathy he’s getting, it’s push back at those “fans” who take delight in flogging the dead horse constantly.

No one has berated Phillips but some can see he is just a bad fit.
