Kalvin Phillips

Don't see how you can compare Phillips to Gareth Bale ?
Bale played a big part in Real Madrid's success for about 4 seasons.
He was promised a big money move (for him) to a club in the Chinese League.
But, Madrid reneged on it, keeping Bale on the bench.
Phillips has never even threatened getting a first team jersey. City also have apparently said they are keen for him to leave.
Completely different class of players and circumstances...
Bale was also a sicknote who couldn't string games together without getting injured. Probably happy to sit on the bench, then turn out for Wales.

Agree Bale had regular injury issues, but he still played 176 games for Madrid, winning 3 La Liga titles and 5 Champions League cups.
He played 382 times for Southampton, Spurs (twice) and Real Madrid.
Also 111 times for Wales, helping them get to their first International Tournament since 1958.
I wouldn't mind a career like that.
Finally, City fecked up by signing a very mediocre player in Phillips. Perhaps Pep was blinded by Bielsa's high regard for Kalvin ?

Needs to be encouraged to leave. .....
I suppose you mean something like this

More like he can't dislodge Rodri. He could well be good enough given a run of games.
But Pep will not give the required games to see how good Kalvin is - for City's standards.
He can stay, but will he start against Red Star ?
If he doesn't start that game, then it's only a FA Cup game that he could potentially start ?

As I said earlier playing for Leeds and England is nowhere near our level and even though he is good for England and their style he is not for us . Just hope we don’t sanction him to Liverpool.

If Ruben Neves is scotching the rumours that he’s going on loan to Newcastle, then perhaps Tyneside would be a better alternative to Merseyside.

Don't understand it myself.

Yes he's at the world's greatest club. But surely as a young footballer, playing football should be at the top of his list.
There is is no mystery, he’s at the best club in the world, he was around players that struggled in their first year, he decided he wanted to give it a go this season. Makes perfect sense.
Maybe in January he’ll decide it isn’t going to work and move on for his career

Italian league could be right up his street, simple passes side to side and backwards of course, needs be playing if he’s getting a place on the plane but that’s not my concern

Just watched a video from City YouTube with him, Doku, Phil, and Rico playing FIFA. From the outside looking in, he seems like such a great lad. The sad reality is he's not good enough for City, but I certainly wish him well wherever he lands.
Nice work if you can get it.

Is anyone else a bit surprised that even though other teams appear to rate him highly (rumours of Newcastle, Liverpool, West Ham, Tottenham and Juventus being interested) it appears Pep wouldn’t pick him to start even if he was the only fit player in the squad. I dont know whether he’s pissed Pep off or if Pep simply doesn’t rate him.

What's even more surprising is that (if rumours are true) we are likely to make a big profit on him whichever club he goes to.

Football is mad.
