Kalvin Phillips

Would you give that up ?
Depends on your ambition.

Me personally, if i was good enough to be a professional footballer, first and foremost I would want to play football. Especially having collected all the honours listed on my CV.

He's set for life now. And should be jumping at the first opportunity to get regular football.

i hope we do buy him out.

You’ve painted it like it’s awful for him to stay for 2 years.

All he does is train. Stays healthy. Gets him out the house each day.
Gets all his meals made. Top quality food by our chef.
With his mates all day. Everyone likes him it seems.

So we pay him to laugh, train and eat. Absolutely no stress as well as he will never play.
Like he’s at school except it’s just PE all day. What a life.

I really want us to pay him up. He’s winning by staying.
He doesn’t care anymore about his career.
What if he changes his name to Scott Carson?

Would you drop £100000 per week to do it.
The answer is you wouldn't in 99.9% of case's.

While Phillips is at City his agents CAA Stellar are raking it in. They know they can’t get a better deal for him anywhere else.

Grealish has the same agent, wouldn’t surprise me if he goes on loan again next season, rather than sell. Again the agent won’t get a better deal elsewhere for Grealish either.

Quite a few new players Marmoush, Ait Nouri, Trafford have same agent.

Also Bobb is another player and Dortmund have said the overall cost to take him wages and agent fees after the transfer fee is too high. His agent is pricing him out of a good move. Let’s hope he doesn’t potentially have his career ruined.

He's already set for life.

And yes, me personally I would. If i was him I'd be thinking - I've made my fortune, got some medals. Now let's get back to playing football.

All about mindset and application. Neither of which Kalvin has.

Throw in Ortega, Savinho & the sick notes etc , we got a 'Bomb' squad bigger than Chelsea's! Did you club at least try to pay him off like Arse did with Ozil?

It’s easy to say that without watching the money drop into your account.

He might also think that his body is knackered and can never get to the level he was and so isn’t interested anymore.

The 6 year contract he got is probably the worst mistake we’ve made post takeover.

We buy him out and he can then sign for another club.... obviously, if another club would have him.

It's irrelevant whether City fans would take the money like he has or not. Fact is we'd never get that chance.

His legacy is that he will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Not that he's arsed.

They all get paid too much and daft contracts. They don't give a fuck really any of them.

The football gravy train and we all cough up week in week out then moan about the million and one things wrong with football right now. Then turn up week in week out.

20 million reasons, why I dont believe you.
So easy to say, when it's not your money.

I wouldn't want to comment on Kalvin's attitude - and he may enjoy training and being out of the limelight after a tough few years - and frankly I don't really blame him, and wouldn't judge him.

I think suggesting it's just about the money - and that we'd all make the same decision is unlikely to be anything like the whole story. It's pretty well established that once you're reasonably well off, extra money makes little difference. Happiness often tops out on yearly salaries that that many pro footballers could earn in a week.

At the level Kalvin is, he's got financial freedom already, and can probably buy whatever he wants for the rest of his life. There are only so many holidays you can go on, and only so many cars and watches you can own - and let's face it, footballers are already buying multiple cars and watches because they don't really have much else to spend huge amounts of money on. I think most people would easily be able to choose happiness over money at that stage.

He was given a lot of praise from Eddie and others from his coaching skills, no evidence that Phillips has done f all for his wages.
