According to a few Leeds fans Phillips had a great purple patch for them and England but this wasn’t actually his usual form and they said he was pretty average for them either side of that run.

I cant see us getting rid of him.
How would that work if so? Is he even registered as part of our playing squad? I’m not sure how these things work from the admin side.
Or would he literally just be sat in the CFA helping the cleaners tidy up and twiddling his thumbs?
The whole situation must be incredibly embarrassing for him if nothing else. I’d be mortified and would be scared of setting foot anywhere near the ground if it were me who’d be so publicly outcast and shown up to be so far beyond my level like he has.

What has he got that teams might want, considering there are tons of promising you players in academies who would be cheap fee/wages, and may well increase in value?

Realistically I think he’s looking at the championship, but that would be one hell of a step he’d never, ever come back from.
He will be loaned out for the remainder of his contract and he will likely end up playing the majority of that in the Championship as the highest paid Championship player, of which we will likely be paying most of not all of that salary.
In no way is he going to forfeit the £150k a week contract for the next 3 seasons.
It would be easier just to pay him off.

I don't see many signing players who are on huge wages (for most teams), are almost 30 and have had 2 half decent Premier League seasons. That's not just stupid, it'd be madness.

I remember back in the day thinking Steve Daley was our worst ever signing considering the fee forked out. This changed when we spunked £17m on Jo(ke) …. but I doubt Philips will ever be topped.
