Kalvin Phillips

I've said previously in this thread - no-one is offering him anything close to what we signed upto currently.
The guy has his, and his family's, future to take into account so why would he walk away from money he's owed??
But why wouldn't he like to continue his career and earnings?
There is no club that will take him on once he leaves us. He should still have several years to go on the pitch and possibly continue in the media/ coaching when he has retired.

He shouldn’t but he still should taken more professional pride in his loan moves. He was a huge letdown at Ipswich, West Ham and now has had a poor start to his loan at Sheffield Utd. Being sent off at all three raises suspicions and there was questions over his fitness at West Ham, which we saw before in January 2023 when he came back from not being at the World Cup overweight.

I wouldn’t walk away from the money either, as a family man, but I’d be absolutely more focused on making it work wherever I’ve gone on loan. I don’t think he gives a fuck about his career any more.
There we go - that's what I call a balanced view.
I agree he should be doing better during his loan spells, and that his signing was a mistake.
I'm not after defending him for the sake of everything else - but some in this thread seem to think he should go sign for Alty for £50 a week just to get him off the books

His antics at the Trebble winning trophy parade probably sealed the lads fate at City. To get pissed up and start dropping f-bombs on live TV won't have gone down well with the chairman, and no doubt Pep would have absolutely roasted him for that. Even though Jack was as pissed, if not more he still had the mentality on the pitch to justify him staying and playing. Kalvin just didn't seem to pick himself up and knuckle down.

Pound for pound our worst singing ever.

A totally different league to the RSC's/Vuoso's of this world.
RSC was pretty good when he played just had injury problems. Vuoso did not settle and was a bit of dodgy character

Kalvin should have settled in well half of Yorkshire was apready in Manchester when he joined.

I think it was his absolutely awful performance at Southampton in the league cup that sealed his fate. Unfortunately he was never the right fit for us, and never backed himself either.

In his defence not many are going to be and I feel for him because he went from a starter for England to playing hardly any football over the past few years so confidence will be shot. Yes he makes a lot of money but it will have been a tough time for him mentally.

I actually think it was the opposite.
I think he arrived at City and the doubts kicked in.
He said as much in a chat with with Mark Chapman on MNC on 5Live.

Said we were doing 'rondos' on his first day and couldn't believe the level!

To be fair, when they said "We're doing Rondos", he probably thought that they were taking him out for an introductory
meal.

In 10 years they'll have him as a pundit on games where the caption will say 'ex Man City' and he'll keep referring to City as 'we'.

I appreciate the comments above about the money, but honestly, how much does he need? He could play for nothing and never have any financial worries ever again.

I've no respect for any player who gives up his best years sitting on a bench. He was in the World Cup squad, for goodness' sake - yet couldn't even be arsed to fight to keep that status. Very unimpressive character.

The move was too big for him and he fell apart mentally unfortunately. Looking back now, his inside City video he was genuinely shocked at the set up ! The real warning sign though was when the fan launch was on to showcase the players and he couldn’t make it as he was ill apparently but turned up the next day for training! Set the tone for his move really
