Kamala Harris

An insurrection is violent action that is taken by a large group of people against the rulers of their country, usually in order to remove them from office.

I think Jan 6 pretty much fits this - even if it was a bit crap
Poor effort when you consider overthrowing governments is something of an American speciality ;-)

If no one on either side of the debate can actually define an insurrection then it's unlikely they can accurately define if one did or didn't happen?
Collins dictionary definition as follows (other dictionaries are available):

An insurrection is violent action that is taken by a large group of people against the rulers of their country, usually in order to remove them from office.

No one can say for sure of course, but I reckon if the craziest of the crazies that day had got to Mike Pence before the secret service hustled him out of the building they would at the very least have put a rope round his neck and dragged him around for a while before the less crazy among them yelled "Stop, he's had enough."
And if they'd found Nancy there'd be no doubt about the outcome.

(now this might be a post that both Harris supporters and the Trumpists can like, albeit for different reasons.)

Surely the "immigration round up" will be the like the wall, or the new healthcare plan. Happening "in a few weeks".
Not if he is given a second term.

Trump and MAGA have developed a systemic apparatus to follow through on their proposed policies and programs that did not exist in his first term. They have state legislatures, governors, federal courts, and even SCOTUS filled with friendly parties or outright MAGA zealots. And the Republican Party has almost completely consolidated in to the MAGA party—that wasn’t the case during his first term. It’s not even Trump that is the biggest danger now—it’s the real power brokers behind MAGA, which include technocrat and accelerist billionaires, powerful far-right ideologues, and Christian nationalist psychopaths.

Things will be very different if he is elected again, particularly if he gains control of both chambers of congress. At that point, the entire government will be MAGA-captured.

I can, as I replied, define insurrection and much better than that dictionary. I am waiting, however, for Dax to tell me why J6 was not an insurrection as he has frequently told us. I’m beginning to suspect he was guilty of meaningless bluster. I shall put him out of his misery tomorrow by defining insurrection and demonstrating why J6 was a classic fulfilment of the definition.

Oh wait? So you are not saying it's an insurrection?

Then we don't have an issue.
I am waiting for you to show why J6 was not an insurrection and then I will demonstrate why it was. Gird thyself.

It all sounds like a lot of disruption to me - something that rich people tend not to like.

But I really hope we never get to find out who is right.

As I've said many times on these US Politics threads, this is a 5-Alarm fire situation. The fact that the self-proclaimed party of law & order has essentially capitulated to MAGA in such a short space of time should be a wake up call for all western democracies.
