Kazimierz Deyna

Spotted this in the Olympic park in Munich last year. 3rd name down on the list.

Back to Deyna, one of my favorite players of the era and I think one of the only foreign players at the time in the team, it seemed so exotic to have him in the side. How times change. I remember one euro game, could be munchengladback where he just took my breath away. A tragedy when he died as he was one of those players we took to straight away. It always raises a smile for me when I see someone on here with his user name

I was one of the only two lucky blues (Andy Shaw, where are you now?) who went to Warsaw for his testimonial. He played the first half for City and the second half for Legia.

Great player. RIP.

I bet that was lot of hassle getting there at that time

Played in a game for San Diego Sockers with him (and Ade Coker, ex-West Ham). Gentleman and silky smooth player. Reminded me very much of Colin Bell, in that they were both very much players who stood fairly upright when they played and moved with such ease around the middle of the park.

There have been some QUALITY PLAYERS at City over the years and Kaz Deyna is perhaps one of the most overlooked.

I can remember wagging it from school and getting his autograph one morning outside Maine Road. Used to love just staying on the 53 bus and going straight past school (bizzarely it was where COMS is now) just off Palmerston street near the Mercedes garage and going all the way to Maine Road for a City fix. Then going in at dinner time with a load of autographs :-)

Dont remember him very much but I was his sons best mate (only mate !) at primary school in Handforth.
Was that Norbert? The Polish lads who lived next door but one to me babysat him a few times, their family knew Kazzy from the Polish church and social club just round the corner from Maine Road.
Everyone in that club was a blue, even more so after Kazzy signed for us.

The guy was fantastic to watch,i remember one game at Maine Road where he made one of the opposition look daft after he robbed him on the half way line. The Kippax blasted out his name full belt, and he stopped with his foot still on the ball and waved to the crowd, whilst the match was still going on!
