Keir Starmer

But he is showing no signs of appealing to the middle ground in any way.

The election is 3.5 years away, he was already on an uphill struggle with it 5 away, and has done little to progress the partys, standing while losign the faith of most of those that campaign loyally for it.

Unless he suddenly learns to be less than invisible and bland or pulls some policy rabbot out of a hat to trump tge tories labour are gonna lose quite easily next election.

The 2024 GE is the first in my lifetime where I am actually not in any way confident or hopefull of the tories being kicked out.
It's not just Labour, where are the Lib Dems, I don't even know who their leader is? They are clearly suffering by the fact that the Tories are dominating the centre and that's also why Labour look so lost at the moment. Looking at the Lib Dem website they may as well just become a wing of Labour.

However much people hate the Tories they have mopped up the political landscape over the last 5 years. They have been horrendous in most areas and grossly incompetent yet they will still win everytime vs a Corbyn or Starmer Labour.

I think that massive losses in the locals will be a reflection on Johnson and his cabal rather than any approval rating of Starmer sadly

I don't see there being a huge Tory losses because Starmer and his front bench have been anonymous.

I can think of other leaders who would have been sending their ministers out everyday exposing the PM's shagging and all round corruption whilst coming up with scientific alternatives to debate over Covid.

Covid has given Johnson and ministers a daily media show. It's been a shit show but all publicity is good publicity if that's all you see.

He's losing The Grauniad.

Believe me he isn't, he'll never lose them, he is the Grauniad.

They report he's in the shitter coz he is, but they end the article with an upbeat Corbyn and Cameron comparison.

The Guardian is New Labour to the core, they'll not abandon Starmer, he'll always get a second chance with the Islington posse.

Which is a tragedy for the always poor and for the soon to be, but haven’t realised it yet, poor. We are seeing the greatest transfer of wealth, from the poor to the rich in history and to the technocrats at that. The poor and the youth being massively shat on from all sides, and he’s as quiet as a mouse. What’s even worse is that millions of people, who identify as right of centre, personal responsibility, low social welfare and low taxes have moved to big government, authoritarian, command economy types, cheering the government for spending ever increasing amounts on keeping jobs for many in the middle class who, obliviously in many cases, will be ‘benefit scroungers‘ before you can say “furlough has finished.“

Just as the country has inadvertently gained an appetite for social interventionist policies, we’ve got a Labour Party that hasn’t got any......

That's a very good post.

Once this pandemic is over its true cost and shit show Brexit will collide, we'll be looking at Boys from the Black Stuff levels of unemployment, there's no national plan worth shit. Build Back Better is just a slogan, like Global Britain and Levelling Up.

Thank god the coppers have news powers eh? Coz the Tories will be counting on them to hold the line.

With Starmer and Boris both trying to claim the centre I don't think they know what to do with themselves. With corbyn dragging labour to the left it created a political space for them which has now gone.

With the eye watering amounts of tax payers money being spent, it just goes to prove that austerity, poverty, supportive infrastructure and different life chances by dint of birth were always a political choice and never an economic one. Difference is of course, most of the governments ‘largesse’ is being transferred to a few private corporations and individuals, not for the benefit of the vast majority of people.
