Midfielder Yaya Toure has been recalled to Manchester City's Champions League squad.

Toure, 33, was left out of the 25-man list for the group stage but has since become a first-team regular again, and replaces the injured Ilkay Gundogan.

New arrival Gabriel Jesus, who scored in the 4-0 win at West Ham on Wednesday, comes in for Kelechi Iheanacho, who remains eligible.

City face Monaco in the last 16, with the first leg on 21 February.

Toure's omission for the group stage was criticised by his agent Dimitri Seluk, and City manager Pep Guardiola said he would not pick the midfielder until he received an apology.

In November, the four-time African Footballer of the Year apologised to the club for "misunderstandings from the past" and has since returned to the first team.

I think we should let this kid go on loan, its all starting to look ugly now.

Nacho is still in the team he just moves to the B list after being here long enough

I think last nights game said a lot. The movement and link up between Sane, Jesus and Sterling was outstanding.........but the main thing I picked up on was the fact that when one of them got into a shooting position another of the trio got into a position that created a tap in which was fantastic

This is what imo, Pep wants, movement and high intensity and getting in to a position where the goal WILL be scored. If you put either Aguero or Kelechi in some of those situations that the front 3 did last night, 9 times out of 10 both Aguero and Kelechi would have gone for goal themselves, which could have meant the shot being saved.

Sergio needs the competition for his place, kelechi is still young enough to adapt to what Pep wants for the future

What's looking ugly? Having an u21 player on the u21 list because he's eligible for it?

Think we should have loaned him out, preferably to another premier League team in Jan. He may technically still be in the Champions League squad but it has become pretty obvious he isn't going to get much game time this season as we have so many attacking options at the moment. A loan out could have been good on various levels.

We only have two other strikers, what happens if we get an injury to either or both?

You could also ask why we'd send him to a struggling team to learn nothing just to get minutes.
He knows the league and we know he can score goals in this league. We need him to learn what arguably only Guardiola can teach him.
We already know he's an intelligent mover with good goal scoring instincts, what we don't know is if he can adapt to the level Pep will require. We will only learn that with him training, playing with us. I'd like to see him get a run out centrally with two of the speedsters. A cup line up of Iheanacho flanked by 2 of Sané, Jesus or Sterling with a strong midfield behind would be fun to watch. While Jesus was excellent last night, I'd wager Iheanacho's natural instincts would have seen him bag from the cross where Silva scored and the Sane cross early in the second half where Jesus was slightly flat footed. Or more likely unable to keep pace. (No digs at all on Jesus).

If he isn't learning and adapting and seeing the level he needs to be at whilst training and watching the games, then City isn't for him.
Early days but we're at a stage where either Jesus or Sergio are on the bench. If the lad has what it takes, he'll have to up his game.

A great natural finisher with time and the best coach in the World on his side. Lots of minutes under his belt already and a reputation that would earn him an 8 figure move away to almost anywhere.

He has two options in my opinion, work his nut off, learn and be part of one of the best young attacks in the World. Or Work his nuts off, learn and fall a little short and earn a great move.

We are incredibly reactionary as fans and him being absent for a week or two means very little. For all we know, he's asked for a little time to work on his own game.
