Kelechi Iheanacho - 2016/17 Performances

A super sub only at the moment I am afraid, I hope he continues to improve to fight to be a regular starter.

It's more his decision making that wasn't right last night, he seems to struggle when he has time rather than acting instinctively.

There were two occasions (when he had a shot blocked and when he passed to Nolito who was offside) that shouldn't have just resulted in a shot on target, but a goal.

Cannot be played ahead of Aguero unless exceptional circumstances, injury etc. Has to come on as a super sub.
If only he would have made more of that chance last night, a different match altogether it would have been.

Only problem with making a player a super sub is that is doesn't really help their development. If you want the player to be that Super striker that leads the line they are going to need to start, play the game, understand the game and get experience. After one performance you can't say "this guy is going to be a super sub" That's not how it works.

Actually thought he was OK last night. His touch was good, and he played well with his back to goal at times. He should have buried the header but all strikers miss a sitter every now and then.

I don't think an average game as a starter necessarily means he's only good enough to be a super sub either. Aguero has the odd shite game. Means nothing.

It would also have been a different match if any City player could have been arsed to attack the 6 yard box in the 2nd half when Kelechi put in a peach of a low cross from the byline. I would agree that the responsibility of leading the line alone is probably a bit much for a player barely past his 20th birthday but I didn't think he was as bad as some on here make out. I'd like to see Pep try a bit more 3-5-2 with Sergio and Kelechi partnered up front. Sergio looks as if he needs help as much as Kelechi right now.

He's not playing like he is one of the best on the planet at the moment though is he? Why is it such a implausible suggestion to drop a striker who is struggling and seemingly not playing for the benefit of the team, for one who scores or assists whenever he eventually makes it onto the pitch?

You ignored his question. It's ok to want Iheanacho to start. Wanting that doesn't mean said person thinks Aguero is the new Cameron Jerome.

Ibrahimovic is also nominated for the ballon d'or. Remind me how well he's playing?

So tell me about this Sergio fella again lads...

Showed yesterday what he can do, and therefore how badly he'd been playing up til now.

Not entirely sure why you've called me back into this, as all I did was point out how flawed your statement of "he's nominated for the ballon d'or so he must be in fantastic form" was.

I never said he should be dropped, or he was finished, or anything remotely similar.

You're using my posts out of context. I replied to those who couldn't make a constructive post in response to those with a different opinion on what Sergio was offering the team over the last month.
