Kelechi Iheanacho

Newly appointed coach of the National U-23 team, Samson Siasia says he will be building his Olympic team around most of the players of victorious Golden Eaglets who won the last FIFA cadet championship in the United Arab Emirates in 2013, including Kelechi Iheanacho.Siasia“The team will certainty be built around most of the U-17 players that won the last World Cup especially somebody like Kelechi Iheancho. The truth is that the boy is good and has a the heart of a great player, so all we need do is to encourage him to excel.“Also there will be a good representation of those playing their football here in Nigeria because those ones will be ready at all times to report for national duty but they must have to be quality players who can hold their own against any player from abroad.“One good thing today is that our league is beginning to attract some quality players who are doing well in their various clubs. Even though such players are at home they are equally good and so must be encouraged by giving them the confidence they need to be at their best,” added Siasia.

Does anybody have a journalist-friend so you could ask him to interview Kelechi to make at least something clear on that situation? (Im serious) As there's no news on it from the club... Is he really in USA waiting for a belg visa to go on loan to this Meechlen fc? Or is he already there? Would he able to play there or only train till january? Or maybe he's still training in USA? Or has he has returned to Nigeria? Or he's already in England sorting out his work permit???

Do we actually know if he has signed for the club yet? Or could he end up going somewhere else and we lose a potential world class player of the future? Frustrating if we do as i doubt if it was Spain or Germany they would have the same issues.

It's an odd situation isn't it - I thought this country let anyone and everyone in (isn't that what UKIP always say).

THe coach from Columbus Crew state that he was in fact not on loan, he was merely training there. Transfermarkt isn't extremely reliable.

Samson Siasia, the coach of the U23 Olympic team wants to build his squad around Kelechi Iheanacho.

That would mean Iheanacho is doing the rounds for the U20 and U23 teams, with a full call-up on the cards.

Although Nigeria are on the brink of a 7 month international ban for political interference in their football federation so that will delay his international involvement somewhat if it happens.

Re: That fast Nigerian kid (awaiting a work permit)

an 18 year old with confidence and pace that showed up a number of first team pro's and you think we don't need him in the squad?

what midfield threats will be on the bench on Sunday?

You answered the question in the thread title, so no need for the thread really

And his name is Kelechi Iheanacho, and he already has a thread

sorry I couldn't find it - I thought he was eligible for an application when he was 18? this has been and gone and we've heard nothing on whether we've even made an application. surely it doesn't take 3 months?

Not sure what is happening at the moment, clearly due to his lack of games for Nigeria we have to apply for a work permit based on the fact he is a young talent, sounds like something that could go on and on before getting resolved

1. He isn't a midfielder he is a forward.

2. I think we have enough forwards in Aguero, Dzeko and Jovetic atleast for tomorrow.

Hence we don't need him asap. Infact even if he was to come I doubt he would get game time.
