Kelechi Iheanacho

I notice that too. I see a few times, Fernando would lob it to the FB instead of passing it to Nacho 10 yard ahead of him with no defenders around him.

Also Kid needs to work on his Runs and movement. Too often he would get open 5 yards away and look back and expect the ball. I know he is not a proper CF that makes runs behind the CBs. I just notice it, it may be nothing. Could be players avoiding to pass him the ball.

Also he has created a number of chances in these friendlies. I am excited to see what he does in real games.

What position will he play with us, he looks more of a SS/CAM than a wide forward.

Theyre just trying to put him in his place and to humble him, so he doesnt get to full of himself which many players with that much talent at that age do.

Definitely a CAM, was always looking for a 1-2 or that killer pass, yet will score and looks for a good shot when needs be, something Silva lacks.
exactly. i remember watching balotelli for inter when he burst on the scene and he already had the arrogance and swagger back then. if giving Kelechi tough love is the way to get him team focused im all for it. it seems fine though, whenever we have scored hes always in there congratulating the goal scorer. maybe someone could find him a nice manchester lass, a quicky wedding and this work permit issue would no longer be a problem

17 year old kid who probably doesnt speak English

You do know Nigeria's official language is English? He may speak pidgin, but he does understand and speak proper English as well.

BTW: I may be wrong, but in the last two games it genuinely looked like some players tried not to pass to Iheanacho unless they really had to. Also - whats with all the players ignoring or even berating Iheanacho's need to celebrate a bit? Whats wrong with being happy? There was something really wrong about that. Something makes me think that players are feeling threatened by him and are trying to put him in place (in 'internal club hierarchy').

You ARE wrong.

The worst thing a young player can do is act like he's made it. He hasn't even signed a professional contract for a club yet. Overconfidence makes you act like you expect things.

The players are right to keep him grounded.

You WANT him to succeed, don't you??

We're comparing him to Silva?

Anyone know what's happening with him? Are City applying for a work permit? Thought he looked good in the friendlies...

(I could read the thread, of course, but I don't think there are any new posts, plus I'm knackered and prefer pressing f5 for the rest of the evening. Many thanks)

Oh that would be a really good move for him I think.

Good plan if true, but surely he won't be able to play any part for us without a work permit, so he'll need to get himself into the national team if he wants to be a part of the club long term.

What are the rules about work permits for players in the US ?

I think this is how this team is going to benefit City moving forward, it may not be the league everyone wants but we share resources and can keep a better eye on our players and also know that the team has our best interest at heart. Plus with a huge Nigerian/African population in NYC and his style/confidence level, he can be an instant hit and bag lots of goals for NYCFC.

Pretty much nonexistent as far as the league is concerned.

Here's the process as I know it:

Can he get a visiting work visa? Almost certainly since he can prove employment.

Done.

Thanks, the Daily Mail wouldn't allow that here. Hopefully he'll get some good game time over there from January and get into the national side, and then we can try a work permit over here, he looked good in the friendlies, if a little raw, but could turn out to be gem in the future.
