Kelechi Iheanacho

Apparently going straight into their reserve/second team.

Yet would have easily gotten into our first team squad this season...

Best of luck to him, more likely to get game time at that level as opposed to the likes of Bruno.

That would be a bit odd. Maybe initially he would play with them but hopefully can get a sniff at the first team. Either way, isn't he out until March?

They've got no strikers, so when he's fit he shouldn't take too long to get into the team. They've just got rid of Roque and they've been playing Amrabaat up front from most of what I've seen(who's really a winger). I think they only have Javi Guerra who's actually a striker and he's not up to much.

He's supposed to be out until mid March so he'd never have figured in the first team this season. Let him get his fitness back and then see what he's made of next season.

Eh? Surely a typo from BBC Sport?

According to s10 Nigeria he is staying.
Manchester City are not prepared to send out Nigeria Under 20 international Kelechi Iheanacho on loan to another club before the close of the winter transfer market.

Only yesterday, there had been speculations in the foreign press that the Golden Ball winner at the 2013 Fifa Under 17s had agreed to join Malaga on a short-term deal until the end of this season.

But The Citizens rented an apartment for Kelechi Iheanacho last week, which is a handwriting on the wall that the highly rated starlet will remain in England beyond this month.

''Manchester City have rented an apartment for Kelechi where he will live. There's no way he's leaving Man City in the January transfer window,'' a source close to Kelechi Iheanacho told SL10.ng.

''They did that to make sure he's settled by the time he comes back from injury. They are positive he'll get a work permit, but it might actually take time.

''If Manchester City were not optimistic of Kelechi getting the work permit, they wouldn't have bothered renting the apartment.''

The Taye Academy pupil impressed manager Manuel Pellegrini during Manchester City's tour of the United States last summer, scoring in games against Sporting Kansas City and AC Milan.

Meanwhile, ex Golden Eaglet teammate Chidiebere Nwakali has joined Malaga on loan until the summer of 2017.

good lad

Why is the work permit taking so long? Arsenal get one more or less straight away for an uncapped Brazilian defender yet the player of the tournament at a World U-17 Championship has to wait for months.

It has been very frustrating for us as he looks a talent going off preseason and the fact is he missed a chance to stake a claim when we had no striker to call on.

This injury may well have been caused by excessive training as he had sod all else to do, as you suggest if he played for Arsenal or Manure then his work permit would have been here the day after he was 18yo

Nigeria starlet Kelechi Iheanacho has resumed training with his English Premier League club Manchester City after an ankle injury.

“Kelechi has said he is back training after he has recovered from an ankle injury which kept him out for several weeks,” Flying Eagles team administrator Aliyu Ibrahim Awal disclosed.

Do we even know that there is a hold up?

I assume work permits are not matters of public record, the club or player do not have to tell anyone and it might suit all involved to keep it quiet! He has been in the UK and training for a while now so I would assume he has a work permit.

He is not on any official squad list that I can see which is a bit of a mystery but it might not be anything to do with work permits, it’s all been a bit murky?

I guess we'll know when/if he plays for the EDS and stuff. I suspect he might do for a couple of games but who knows?
