Kelechi Iheanacho

Not really. If you wanted an out and out striker success is your best bet. Nacho is a No9 and No10 hybrid. But I think he'll flourish best in the No10 role the most, because that's where you get the best out of him. When I saw him play for the 1st time all I could see was a young YaYa playing in an advanced mid field role.

I know he plays that role in that team, but I think he is a better player in any position.

Don't be a knob.

The kid has barely played any serious football for a year. He is the best player in that squad. The second best player is the Spurs lad Yahaya. Where is he ? Also dropped. Same fucking reason.
The best player in the squad is Moses simon (hasn't played a minute) whilst second is Isaac Success and the Wilfred Ndidi. Kelechi is a huge talent but was just behind the pace in that game against Brazil.

Erhm...... He wasn't playing the role he's best at, to put it middly. He would score most of the chances the other players, including Yamaha and Sucess, unsuccesfuly missed. But he was played very deep instead and was often ignored by his teammates

And what role do you think that is exactly? Because Isaac Success is a much better than him as a striker and that is really not in doubt. The main person to blame for that Brazil will fall squarely on Manu Garba, his worst performance as a Coach for the past 2 years. Kelechi has always been a liability in Midfield and he should've known that and should've had Awoniyi on the bench in place for a hard-working midfielder. That's why he performed so well at the U17's playing in the hole behind the striker.

Iheanacho as an inside-player or a striker would see him having more impact and be more useful. Yamaha was adressed the ball more often than Kelechi

Nope. He neither has the pace, or dominating physique to be a mainstay in either positions , he's a pure #10 but needs to improve on his workrate. Yahaya was given the ball more, maybe because he was actually fighting to regain possession of the ball unlike Kelechi.

@Naija
"Yahaya was given the ball more" He wasn't given it in the middle pitch. He got the ball a lot since over 20 through ball were attempted by Nigeria and he did well to touch the side line. In the Brazil game Nigeria lacked any cohesiveness and build up play. Kelechi didn't see much of the ball since the players in front of him or the midfielder behind him were all attempting through ball or hoofing the ball to the 3 forward. Kelechi didn't play well and didn't react well to being sub'd off. However playing 4 forwards and 2 Midfielders was an amerature mistake by Manu, especially after Brazil sub'd off a forward to bring another midfielder. Resulting in Brazil out numbering them in the middle and cutting off their pass to the forwards. This is why they lost not sure why Iheanacho, Success, and Yahaya were bench for it.

Nigeria should really only play 3 of of Success, Yahaya, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Godwin, Simon. And a 433 with 3 actually midfielders that are hard working and defensive.

I think that's in doubt.

I think Kelechi will have a better record in the Premier League, as a striker, once he gets fully match fit, than Success currently does in Spain. I think he is a better footballer, full stop.

I think it's one goal in about 19 games for Success isn't it ?

Seems like you might be following me on twitter, because I said the exact same thing when I was watching that same game

So now, you're just giving a hypothetical situation? Both players were involved in the African U17 Championship 2 years ago one was the top goalscorer in the tournament, whilst the other came second, since you're good at these statistics could you please tell me who won the golden boot?

I can understand that you have bias toward him, because he's a city player but as a Nigerian and neutral, it's as clear as day that Success is the better player whether you like it or not.

I'm guessing reading isn't your strongest attribute....

I'm guessing you have the hots for a non City player & are ignoring the FACT that Kelechi was voted the best player at the World Cup, not the fucking African Cup. He has barely played any serious football since then, has had injury problems & is not yet fully match fit.

When he is, I recon he will produce more than one goal & one assist if he gets 19 games in City's first team. Is that simple enough for you ?

Their both Nigerian to me so I have no bias clouding my judgement. I call it as I see it and besides the current U20 tournament that African Tournament was the only tournament where both players were fully fit and Success was the better player by a narrow margin. I've said it before and I'll say it again Kelechi is a #10 he's no striker.

You still seem to be giving hypothetical situations, youth football is nothing compared to senior football (something a lot of fans don't seem to understand) And with his workrate/lack of workrate I doubt Pellegrini would even give him 19 appearances.

You are talking about a comparison from an old championship where he was about 15 years old & then advising me on how youth football is different ? His last major tournament, fully fit, was the World Cup. He wasn't voted Nigeria's MVP, he was THE MVP. 6 goals & 6 assists in 7 games, in the World Cup.

I am not criticising the other player, but he is older, more experienced & Kelechi has not played much serious football for a long time. I fully understand that his position is No 10, but imo, when fit, he is a better player than Success in whatever position he plays; he is just better, & at City he is playing more as a striker at the moment . The other lad is fast, strong & difficult for young kids to mark.Kelechi is class though. He may not get 19 games for City next season, but if he does, I recon, from what I've seen of him, that he will be a level above Isaac Success, he looks a natural who will score goals & create assists in our first team . I also think Yahaya is a level above too.

I don't think it is an accident that City & Spurs have gone for those two.

You do realize that both the African and World U17 occurred in the same year? Well that is exactly my point, you are the one pointing out Success' stats in La Liga without knowing that he was the best player of that U17 set, so you think he'd score more in that Granada team that barely create chances? He'll most likely spend more time with their B team to and improve his workrate. So from what you've seen of him, i'm guessing playing for City's U21's? The standard of play in that U21 league is so poor it's hard to believe.

Sorry dude, but I follow Nigerian players as a hobby and Moses Simon is hands down the best individual player on this squad, but IMO he shouldn't have been called up.

What odds can I get for him to be the Premier League top scorer next season? Sounds like easy money.
