Kelechi Iheanacho

Don't know how reliable transfermarkt is, but they have got him down as being loaned to Columbus Crew until 1 Jan 2015, and contracted to us until 30 Jun 2016.

According to transf, Kelechi has been with us since jan 2014, had been with our u18's since then and till the summer when he was promoted to our EDS.

Although it would be a stupid decision, I can believe that City loan him out. But not to MLS, even not to NYFC later. Columbus' manager told from the start that they're not claim to even loan Iheanacho.

Belgium league is where he can play more games now (MLS is at its end now, and I guess there're less game days anyway) and get a EC citizenship after 2 years and won't need a work permit. Although he must start playing for Nigeria NT at this season and get a WP anyway. And we don't know about current decision on his WP, it would be illogical if he doesn't get it...

Why does there appear to be a news blackout on Kelechi?
Does anybody know the current state of play with this lad's joining us officially?

Theres no blackout, I can confirm that we have him labouring on the new academy but no pictures will be released or else he will get sacked.

Does anyone know if he had to sign professional forms before we could request a work permit on his behalf or would it have already been in the system?

If true it will help his work permit application I think

Iheanacho, Martins, IK Uche, Obasi For Congo, Bafana Clash!
20 OCT 2014
The quintet of Chinedu Obasi, Haruna Lukman, Kelechi Iheanacho, Obafemi Martins and Ikechukwu Uche are set to be invited for the Super Eagles’ last qualifying matches for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations against Congo and South Africa, SL10.ng have been reliably informed.

The aforementioned players couldn’t get into Stephen Keshi’s teams despite their impressive performances for their respective clubs and despite incessant calls to have them included but it seems all five of them will be a part of the team that will announced by interim coach, Amodu Shuaibu for the November fixtures.

A list of 24 players is expected to be announced before the end of October and sources have reliably informed SL10.ng that there will be some changes to the teams Nigerians have been used to under Keshi.

“Most of the players from Keshi’s team will still be there but the likes of Haruna, Obasi, Iheanacho, Martins and Uche will be included provided they aren’t injured before the final list is compiled,” a reliable NFF source told SL10.ng.

If eventually these players are invited, it will sound like a good music to the ears of most Nigerians as they have always clamoured for the invitation of such players.

The Super Eagles are third in qualifying group A with four points in as many games, and play Congo and South Africa in their last matches, with Amodu Shuaibu in-charge on an interim basis after Stephen Keshi was asked to step down from his interim role.

Keshi has had a running battle with Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche hence his continued absence from the Eagles under Keshi, his last appearance being the final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The ‘Big Boss’ alluded to Obafemi Martins as being too old, while also alluding to Kelechi Iheanacho as being too young.

Chinedu Obasi was invited a couple of times but never made the team due to injuries and passport issues, while Haruna Lukman was never given a look in by the ‘Big Boss’.

I'm aware Iheanacho's minders are doing 'everything possible' to get him a work permit by pushing him to Super Eagles.
