Kelechi Iheanacho

Watching the game tonight can tell which players will make it through to professional football whether it will be us or not. Kelechi, Bryan, Nemane, Barker (even though he didnt play well) and Humphreys.

The goalkeeper pisses me off most of the time, the fullbacks are brilliant going forward but defensively they're not good enough. Imagine the likes of Drogba, Benteke, Lukaku playing against them, they wouldn't last. If they work on their defending and physical sides then they can have a chance. Same goes with Celina but I like watching him play, he has good feet. Wood's alright, he'll probably end up at a team like Bournemouth.

Chelseas team were too good. They have skillful players and they were too strong for us to handle.

Unlucky boys. I was impressed by kelechi aswell.

Load of bollocks. Tosin was fantastic, miles better than Humphries, who did ok, & Maffeo is the best defender at the club.

Anyone know why he was being played as a Striker? He's som much more effective when played in the hole just behind the striker, or even as a deep-lying playmaker.

Hopefully he's fit enough to make Manu Garba's Squad for New Zealand.

Fair enough, your opinion.

As a club you don't look at 'who's the better player' you'll need to look further than that like who can adapt well in the prem etc. For instance in your case maffeo is our best defemder. If he was to get a call against palace for example would he be able to keep bolasie/zaha quite and at the same time cause problems down the wing with let's say navas?

I said humphreys because every time I see him play he looks composed on the ball, quick and at the same time he's a decent defender. Correct me if I'm wrong but ain't he only 16 as well? He has a lot of time to develop and if he works in his physical side he could be one hell of a defender. He reminds me of a young marquinhos.

Forgot about Tosin, he played sick last night.

I doubt many of our current youth players could deal with a high intensity game. That's exactly the reason why many of them never play; if they could cope already they'd play week in week out.

Looks a great prospect , i was impressed with him last pre season , loan him out to a championship club for 6 months , and he could save us a lot of money when he comes back , he has the hunger ,strength and ability to become a very good player

I thought he was an out and out striker, he certainly looked like one last night.

These players are young and need to develop physically and build on the experience they get at this level. We've done well in youth CL and FA youth cup and therefore we're giving the young lads a lot of exposure to different opposition, different tactics and different cultures of football. These boys are nowhere near first team level. They might be in 2-4 years when they've had more experience and a spell on loan possibly.

We're a good 5 years behind Chelsea in terms of youth investment. They've done fantastically well but no one has come through yet. There are several that should from that team last night, over the next few years. When our side currently becomes the EDS team, that's when there will be a lot of potential players who can feature in our first team. We'll have the lads currently at 14 or so playing in the FA Youth Cup and there will be some real talent in those sides, as well as all the quality in our current crop.

I think there are a few weak links in our current EDS but it's the players around 19 and under that have seen biggest investment and we will only get better. Lopes, Denayer, Rekik, Cole etc are all on loan at the moment and doing well. They are closer to the first team despite people wanting us to throw Barker into a first team game...

We've got a lot of promising players. Boadu and Ambrose are another two. Just need a bit more time. We've spent so much on developing youngsters and getting the philosophy instilled in them early. I think in 5 years we'll see several youth players in our first team squad. Particularly from the crop of players around 14-16 but I'm not writing those off in our current EDS and youth teams - many of those can and will make it.

I'd keep him in the EDS next season. Not 19 until October and has missed pretty much a whole season of football this year. Its better he plays every week for the u21 than taking the risk of going somewhere new (more personal upheaval and change etc) and getting 20 minutes here and there. Plus he is completely unproven too, so questions marks over the calibre of club who would be willing to take him on.

Also if he's in the EDS he can fill in as #4 striker, behind 3 established strikers, as I believe he is good enough to offer something worthwhile in that role.

Humphries is increasingly impressive and especially as he is just 16 but for me Tosin is looking a bit special. And I thought he was good last night. I too would agree that Maffeo is our best defender and to ask if he could handle one of the Palace flyers is a bit unfair.

First of all how many current premiership defenders can handle the 2 you mention? I am not sure I can think of anyone to stop them in a one to one which is why teams double up on them. Second I would say yes he could handle them as well as anyone because he is such a good defender. Gets his body shape right when faced with a winger, has a decent turn of pace about him and pretty good physically as well. That's what makes him our best defender and that's why some at Chelsea before the two legged final singled him out as one of our best players.

On his attacking prowess have you seen the last bunch of games he has played. He is good and intelligent as an attacking full back and getting better all the time.First team by the start of the 2016 season at the latest foe me.

Just on Iheanacho I though he was way off the pace last night and often bullied a bit by Chelsea defenders when trying to pick the ball up a little deeper but I put a lot of that down to being so rusty after no games this season. However there was enough in what he did get right to suggest/confirm a real talent. Not least by how easily he took the goal and drifted off the defender for the header from Maffeo's cross.

I bet Navas would like to see a striker first at the front post when he is on the ball.
