He's a lovely lad but isn't it a bit weird that literally everytime he reports a City income/outcome his 'sources' are in favour of City, whereas all other journos claim another (for us, worse) fee?

Even at a buy-back of 50m that is great business by City, if he gets as good most of us think he will become we can buy him can for essentially 25m and if we buy him back when he is that good 25m will be like a piss in the ocean for a home grown premier league proven player.

We will never enforce it. Not been impressed by him as a footballer when I have seen him play. Think his goals to minutes ratio will plummet at a lesser club. Future Francis Jeffers for me.

Or.........Blackburn gets proper info from the club and other media outlets report a higher fee to beat us with?

Could well be true but Madrid had a similar deal with Morata. His stock could rise as well as transfer inflation and it could still make sense to buy him back and sell him on for a profit.

May not be £50m, but as we are building such a young team of great quality, there should come a time soon where we may need 2 players max per window. If this is the case, £50m is easily affordable.

With player values doubling every 2 years we can buy him in 2 years, homegrown, experienced, 23 and more developed for the same relative outlay Leicester just made.

Because Considering the last time I remember him saying it was 3 weeks ago and the transfer stalled, I can believe the reason it stalled was they wanted a higher buyout fee.
£50m is the upper limit of fine but it's still fine. If he's good enough for us to want him when Agüero goes back to Argentina in 2019 then he's worth more than £50m and a hell of a lot more than the net £25m.

Consider Marcos Lopes, who had a buy back of 15m after we sold him for 9m. Monaco just loaned him out for 2 years until our clause ran out and now he's going to be a starter for them, and who would really be surprised if he's being talked about as a 30, 40m+ player by the end of the season?
Fucking Leicester over with a piss taking buyout clause might make it look better in the transfer papers tomorrow, but it's not necessarily going to be the best thing for the ultimate goal which is Iheanacho becoming a striker worth much more than £50m. We want them to invest as much as possible into him, build the team around him, shove a £30m player in Slimani to the bench for him etc. The deal needs to benefit everyone and be more than a glorified loan.

I think the truth is that there isn't an easy solution to developing young players. The middling teams are always going to have an advantage in this regard because of there lower expectations. The higher end, more ambitious clubs are never going to have the same success at player development unless(a) the come across a wonderkid that can hold his own in the first team at the age of 17/18 or (b) if there is a system of B teams like they have in Spain. i suppose that is the idea of City's links with Girona FC.
