From Spain: Man City agree deal to sign young midfielder
Picking up Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali after the the pair impressed at the 2013 U17 World Cup for Nigeria, Manchester City are apparently on the verge of signing Nwakali’s little brother, Kelechi, following his Golden Ball at this year’s 2015 U17 World Cup.
According to AS in Spain, the Premier League team have already sorted out a deal for the young midfielder, who ended the tournament with three goals and three assists.
Despite not scoring as many as his teammate Victor Osimhen (10 goals in seven games), the Nigerian captain was voted the tournament’s best player, as he led his country to their fifth U17 World Cup.
Back in February, there had already been talk of the youngster joining his brother at Manchester City, with his agent, Klay Ekeocha, even admitting the Premier League club were leading the race to sign him, but a move never materialised.
However, with renewed rumours of Kelechi Nwakali moving to Manchester City, AS have seemingly confirmed the deal by saying the 17-year-old will be joining Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
While there has been no confirmation from City’s end about this, if AS are correct, you can expect this to be announced fairly soon.
