Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

He was a frustrating presence yesterday certainly and gave the ball away, and misplaced key passing opportunies more than I have seen before. He is a fantastic player though and someone who deserves patience for a loss of form.

He was pretty poor yesterday, but was excellent against Palace (in a quiet sort of way, because I didn't notice it at the time, and I was at the game!). What is true, however, is that he often tries the most ambitious, difficult pass. If it comes off, it kills the opposition defence at one fell swoop and looks sublime. If it doesn't, you just think "Fuck, he's given it away again". That happened several times yesterday.
We need to be a little bit patient, here. An underwhelming season, no doubt, but this is a hell of a player we have on our hands. Especially under the guidance of the manager we've got.

Need another player that plays a similar way to the genius David Silva. If Silva picks up a big injury at any point it would be devastating because he's so important to the way they play. As for Kevin he's been poor for a while.

We did when we had Nasri. However, we were arguably a lot more predictable with Silva and Nasri playing than Silva and KDB.

Hoped palace game was him back on track, he was poor yesterday. Hope similar to a few they get a good break in the summer, get refreshed with their heads screwed on.

IMO he's been the victim of his own greatness and versatility. He can pretty much play anywhere and Pep does play him all over the place. Silva (and Gundogan, and Yaya) always has a set position. While De Bruyne gets stuck as the no 6, no 8, false 9, or the wings depending on who's injured or where the hole is in the starting 11. Last season he was either at the wings or no 10, that's pretty much it. I believe by being played all over the place it will help him in the long term and make him a better player. At least I hope Pep planned to do so.

may struggle to get in the team if Ilky stays fit...especially playing as he did yesterday and has done so for long periods of the season
