people weill watch the game yesterday and be outraged that we are letting him go but forget the game last week when he was completely anonymous and thats the reason he is going , he was an outstanding player and will quite rightly be in the conversation for best pl midfielder of all time but unfortunately hes only capable of that type of game that he had yesterday maybe 1 in 10 games if we are lucky and thats why we cant carry him and his wages this season has shown that.

He has been playing with pain. He has said that himself. The hernia has now been resolved. You can see he is moving better and besides even when injured in the past he always needed a few games to get back to his best.

It’s a big mistake. Kdb is our best player and can still win games by himself

A lot of wishful thinking there

He's truly on the slide, despite being able to put in a good performance once in a blue moon.

He was the best in the world in his position, he's nowhere near what he used to be and another season older won't help matters.

It's time for him to move on. It's the reality being an athlete.

I think you’re likely right but: We’ve possibly got 8 games left, so what happens if he ‘turns up’ in 6 of them and is instrumental in winning the cup and finishing 3rd?

I dont disagree but its a big IF , but we would always be waiting for that next injury wouldnt we, sometimes it is best to move on and move forwards, even if he did we are still just pausing the problem for a year just like the dippers are.

It is a big if but, If it’s truly the end at city for him I just hope he goes abroad. I’d hate to see him turn up at the Etihad with Spurs, for example, and be brilliant.

Never mind all this MLS or Saudi talk; Arsenal and Liverpool would both sign Kev in a heartbeat and he’d make both teams better.

Even if Kev didn’t play every game for either of these two teams, Liverpool are losing some creativity with Alexander-Arnold leaving and Arsenal only really have a Odegaard as a creative attacking midfielder (and Ederson has as many assists as him this season), so he would feature for them and make a difference.

There are no guarantees we will even sign any of our targets like Wirtz to replace him. So even though Kev isn’t at his world leading best like he used to be, it will still leave us in a weaker position.

At moment it's 100% right to let him go! If next 6 games 4 of them he performs like yesterday maybe the people at at city might have Seconds thought! For me I'd rather he goes playing like yesterday than like Walker went!

Does anybody think De Bruyne will return in some capacity to City, whatever that might look like, or if he has a clean disconnection (return to Belgium football or retire completely from football)?

He calls Manchester his home. He raised his family here. I don’t think he wanted to leave.

I think he will return in some way.

Also not sure if it was right to make the decision now not to extend. Any hoo..

give the guy a play and pay deal for 25/26, he loves the club, im sure he'd stick around for another 12 months without twisting his arm up his back

You can't complain about the dads army midfield and then complain that the club are letting De Bruyne leave.

He's the only one with an expiring contract. To refresh, unfortunately he's the easiest to get rid of and therefore the decision is done. The others require another club to pay money for them and there aren't any guarantees another club will.

If he goes to another english club then he will very much sully his legacy at city and like i said, bar yesterday i will remember him for whatt he was not what he is right now because bar yesterday in most of the games this season like most of the team he has quite simply not shown up.

i dont think he takes that deal, what you have to remember he is one of the biggest earners at the club, can we really carry his level of wages for 10 games a season and would he be insulted if we offered him such a deal

This is true and we all know even when Kev was in his prime he thrived on rhythm and often took a few games to get to his unbelievable standards. I guess the club letting him go boils down to two things :

1. If they already have a solid plan to replace him and have identified the right targets and more importantly got feedback that said player/s are willing to join. And,

2. The indications from his camp were he would not be willing to re sign on heavily reduced wages. The budgets will be key as we all expect a lot of incomings in the summer. That is just a guess but something maybe to consider as clubs have to be sustainable.

For me I will be very sad day when he finally goes - it has been a pleasure watching him for the last decade. But like when David or Ferna left better to do it when the memories are still so grand. The other option was - and I don't even put this player in a similar planet to Kev - to re sign like Walker and tarnish your legacy. At age 34 injuries clearly take a bigger toil. It will be hard to watch him still put in performances for another team but we must not regret that.

I put Kev in the same bracket as the very best I've watched down the years from Bell, Buzzer and Doyle through to Silva, Yaya and Ferna he stands maybe even above them all in what has been the most successful period for our great club. I will miss him & like so many on here wish him even more success wherever he decides to go.

Always leave them wanting more

He’s leaving at the right time , it will be a great send off if he gets us champions league football and the FA cup

We’ve seen United make loads of terrible decisions based on emotions recently (Ronaldo and Rooney) that would never have been made under pisscan. One swallow doesn’t make a summer. Kev hasn’t made enough appearances this season. Hasn’t influenced enough games in the way he did yesterday. It was a good Palace team that forgot it was missing Guehi for 30 minutes. Not Madrid or PSG.

Kev has been brilliant. I love him. The time is right though. Gundo was an emotional re-signing. Let’s not start down this path.

Absolutely mate. I pretty much sent that exact message to a blue yesterday at half time. Generally he's played in a midfield that look like they're wading in treacle and a labouring Haaland. Makes a huge difference having some youth and energy around him. Marmoush's desire, Mcatee, Nico, O'Reilly from getting forward for fullback etc.

Read an article a few weeks ago that he was happy to accept 150k a week. Apparently wanted to stay in the Premier League to secure his place at World Cup. Know you can't always believe what's in the papers, but sounded very Kev-like.
If that figure is true then it does make sense to keep, however he doesn’t need to be slogging himself in Prem to get himself to WC. Difficult decision really, head or heart for most of us, I’d love nothing more than prime Kev for another couple of years but not sure we get that now.
