What a player, we have been so lucky. Someone who makes the game exciting, he's always capable of the free kick, 30 yarder or impossible assist. No conversation about greatest ever city players, or greatest ever premier league players, will be complete without him.

But I have one more thing to ask of him. Give us everything, one last time. Get us into the champions league, get those raggies smashed on Sunday, let Manchester be blue in the sunshine so we can sing your name in pride and joy with yet another De Bruyne masterminded derby victory.

As disappointing it is to lose a club legend, it does feel like the timing is right.

One of the clubs greatest for sure what a servant to the club. The assists, goals, records, individual awards and of course the trophies. Incredible really what he’s achieved

Absolute Rolls Royce of a player. His 4 goal performance at Wolves in 2022, in a crucial game, was the best individual display I have seen by a City player, remarkable. The accumulated injuries have taken a toll and Belgium have not helped over the years in that regard, playing him injured, as they also did with Vinnie. He will be missed.

I am a 78 year old woman and have supported City since I was 9 years old. I don't live in Manchester and never have but this team captured me in the 1956 Cup Final. When I lived in London I became a season ticket holder and over years have seen all the greats. I sadly can no longer afford a season ticket.
Kevin is best I have ever seen in our glorious blue shirt. He is the type of player who takes your breathe away.
I played for QPR women's team back in the 70's and recently, we as a team, were invited to the Football Museum in Manchester and I mentioned that I had followed City all my life and that Kevin was my all time favourite.
Someone must have said something to the club because I recieved a video message from Kevin.
I will always be grateful he took the time to do that. He will never know what that means to me.
Wherever you go Kevin, I wish you nothing but the best. We will never see your like again but I am so happy I was around to see you in City Blue. Thank you. Now win that cup.

Absolutely wonderful post, had me all emotional. I’m not quite as old as you, I’m an OAP though and followed City since 1965. Kev for me outshines every other player I’ve witnessed play for our club.

Great read that Blue, KDB will always be my favourite City player.

You know the rules.... Pics?

One of the best midfielders I have ever seen play the game. It's the right decision, I think his time has come and he cannot keep up anymore - will be impossible to replace. :(

It's just gone 0730 here, and I'm just hearing this for the first time, and I'm gutted, but that's how it's done. Straight up open and honest. Must have been one of the hardest decisions of his life, but I everyone knows that his body simply isn't capable of sustaining that magnificent footballing brain another season longer.

What an absolute legend.

Sorry but that’s Colin. KDB, like King Colin, a truly great player in the history of City. I had a lump in my throat when I heard the news, but all good things come to an end. Wonderful memories and one of the few who could score some great goals with both feet.

King Colin

Job done :)
