I wish he’d stayed one more year to go with pep, but there is also a part of me that is glad his replacement is going to get a season under Pep’s coaching and we’re not changing the manager and main creative force of the team in the same summer.

Pep not got 2 years

His reference to the hernia op said to me he was making a point that this season is not his current potential level..
I thought similar, I don't think any of us knew he was playing with pain, but he's looked far better in recent games.

That said, I think it's the right time for him, who knows where he'll be in 12 months fitness wise.

I think we will miss his seniority and professionalism at the club significantly.. Such a fantastic role model

Personally if Kev can prove his fitness, like he did yesterday. I hope Pep and the club will reconsider extending his contract. Kev's been one of the best midfielders in the PL/world and yesterday's performance was top drawer.

life went on before Kev and will go on after kev, its time to part and TBH he should have moved on end of last season, its a big gamble keeping aged players, the one thing Whiskey was good at was getting them out at the right time and getting a few quid in the process, said it earlyer in the thread if he wants to stay thats fine but only on a pay and play contract, its his choice then to stay where he loves it or move on for a bumper pay day abroad, either way he dosent realy need to hang his boots up just yet

Schmeichel and Cole were not on £400k a week.

And Tevez was never wedded to any club.

Kev will not go to a club in this country and there are still very few who will find the figures for a 34 year old.

It will be an Italian club or more likely US.
Is he defo off mate? Any whispers of a u-turn?

I think he’ll stay in the prem. he’s said he wants to carry on at the highest level for the World Cup. A prem team is bound to make him an offer I reckon

From the post-match interview, Kevin said on TNT That was the first time playing pain-free for a long time.

Now I Understand the reason for the poor form and shocking passing over the last season, The hernia op can be very painful with recovery and long-term pain, Maybe he's been taking painkillers before the games and lost some of the feel for the ball,

Look he's only 33 and could play for City for another 2 years, if the injury has fully cleared up and he can play pain-free City and Pep should ask him to change his mind and stay for another season with an option year, But if it is Kevin's idea to move on and he wants a fresh start at a club with lower aims in another country then that's great and can leave with full honours.

But I got the feeling yesterday in that interview that he may fancy another year here,

Pep doesn't need to ask him to change his mind , it's the club who decided he was leaving not Kev, Pep confirmed that in his last press conference,.Kev has no say in the matter.

Not like the club to get its transfer business wrong? Is it?

I hope the club decide a mistake has been made and he stays. If Gundo can come back Kev can be convinced to have a rethink.

If the club don’t get a world class player to replace him then we will all be pissed.

Walker
Gundo
Kova
Bernie
Stones

Never mind the question marks over:

nunes
Rico
Doku
Savio

Should all be shown the door before Kev.

Not sure why the decision has been made if they know he has been injured all season?

I read that too, but I simply can't believe we wouldn't renew him in that case.

Since he wasn't in the squad at all at Klanfield and then his masterclass against Forest at home a few days later I've been monitoring our results with his participation like some sort of geek. When he's started the game and if the game ended at the time of him leaving the pitch I think I had it down as we've only lost twice. Liverpool at home and Juventus.

In my opinion, despite yesterday’s performance, I think it’s the right time for him to leave. He bows out with an outstanding display in front of the home fans, and I believe his replacement will face less pressure due to the season we've had and not having De Bruyne breathing down their neck.

I have just spotted a huge problem when KDB leaves... who's going to tell Pep to shut the f..k up at some point in the next two years? :-)

I'd hate to see him in the prem for anyone else. Imagine if he somehow stays healthy and finds some of his old form for a year or two. Yesterday even at 33 (soon 34) he proved he still has it. I'd much rather he go to the MLS or the Middle East for a payday, but I have a feeling the thought of leaving has lit a fire in him. He's now put himself in the window and can play with a sense of freedom.

He ended last season well and started this season very well. The drop off when he came back from injury this season was so bad, there had to be something going on. There was that weird period where he was fit to be on the bench but was not getting any minutes. Something was definitely going on.
