I'd hate to see him in the prem for anyone else. Imagine if he somehow stays healthy and finds some of his old form for a year or two. Yesterday even at 33 (soon 34) he proved he still has it. I'd much rather he go to the MLS or the Middle East for a payday, but I have a feeling the thought of leaving has lit a fire in him. He's now put himself in the window and can play with a sense of freedom.

If he plays like he did yesterday in the remaining games I’m sure the club will offer him something, if he plays like he did in the derby the club will wish him a fond farewell

Pep doesn't need to ask him to change his mind , it's the club who decided he was leaving not Kev, Pep confirmed that in his last press conference,.Kev has no say in the matter.

Maybe it's the numbers for the squad next season? Pep said Gundogan Kovacic will be here next season and thats before any new big signings, KDB should be staying over Gundogan or Kovacic because we have plenty when Rodri is back,

If Kevin feels like he still has something to offer then it's a no-brainer to keep him,

Definitely in the pool let’s see how he does, if he plays like yesterday then potential the club may talk.

But how long of a contract does he want as surely we would only offer 1 year.

Any 2 must have to include New York as the runs of form seem less to runs of injury/ recovery and time to get match fit.

Since most of the older players have got a year or more left in their contract it's a pity the board has let debruyne go. If it was stones/akanji/gundo/bernardo/kovacic/grealish then i think city would have kept debruyne in a part time role.

I can't read his mind, nobody can/could. In his statement he speaks of Manchester, his home, his family's home. We may underestimate how important living in Manchester is for him (as a kid, he did not always have that sweet home feeling).
That's why I think he doesn't like to move, to the Saudi's or US.
He's still too good to hang his boots, he has plenty of time now to think about his future, my guess is that the family decides to stay in Europe. To join his buddy Vincent Kompany at Bayern, is that a silly idea? (Muller is nearly 40, still a Bayern player).

Kev has always had periods out due to injuries almost every season.
It’s unfortunate but we can’t keep paying £350k per week to someone only available half a season regardless of how good he is.

Almost all City news breaks from the press conferences and embargoes press conference releases. City fans would do well to learn their schedule and listen to them so as to understand the context rather than read later snippets.

Lets not get knee jerk. Had Kev performed like Saturday even a handful of times this season then I imagine an offer would be on the table. I couldn't name you 3 stand out games from him this season, that with injuries suggests it's time to go. Saturday wasn't a surprise as we know what he can do, it just happens very rarely these days.

100% correct, cannot carry injury prone players regardless of how good they are.
I would add Ake & stones to the must replace list .

Wages will also come into it and no club waits until the window opens to get next seasons squad sorted (at least as far as possible). We are carrying too many players who we can't depend to be fit enough to play. Despite the other day and him saying it's the first time this season he's played without pain, sadly I think he's definitely gone.

Agree with Pep. A 7/10 player who plays every match in the PL is contributing a lot more than a 10/10 player who is only available for half the matches in my opinion.

Bit of a rubbish example but you know what I mean. Pep will be after 10/10 and stay fit of course.

I’m trying to think who is/was a great player that was nearly always fit for us. David Silva springs to mind but perhaps he was injured more than I remember.

It’s a tough one. You make a very valid point, but for all we know Wirtz might want to stay at Leverkusen until after the World Cup next Summer and even if he did leave Leverkusen this Summer it could be to Bayern.

So we could end up with no Wirtz and no De Bruyne.

Thats the risk of football transfer business. For me, I think it’s the right decision to let him go and go all out for Wirtz. If Kev could prove himself to keep fit then I would say keep him for a year. But he hasn’t been fully fit for months and he’s 34. We’ve got other old midfielders than can keep fit, so for me Kev is the one that gets the chop.

I kind of agree. My ranking would be the following:

1) a team in a top European league, like Bayern in the Bundesliga, less likely Spain or Italy.

2) the US, if he's interested in becoming an investor/owner and see what commercial opportunities are available there.

3) Saudi, if he really wants to monetise his last years.

I don't think he'll go for another PL team.

Only time will tell...

He has to go. Simply not been good enough for over a year now. It was a lovely reminder on Saturday that the talent will always be there, but it's also been very sad to watch him lumbering through games and not completing passes he would usually make with his eyes closed.

The injuries will continue, the recovery rate will only get worse, simply down to age.

I'm sure it was painful for Pep to tell him, just like Sergio, but the break needs to be made, otherwise we will see a Fernandinho type fall-off.

People can't demand Pep comes up with creating a new team, without saying goodbye to the last of those who gave us so much.

I'm just gonna enjoy these last three games I get to see him live (hopefully four at Cup Final)

O'Reilly is already ahead of Ake imo. City have Gvardiol, Dias and Akanji in central defence with Khusanov and Reis in development. Stones may recover. Bernardo is in decline, Echeverri is an unknown and Foden has had a poor season. There are 2 obvious holes left by Walker and KDB.
