He'd be a great holding midfield player, spraying passes all over the pitch, and allowing Rodri to push forward more next season. City obvioulsy don't see that. Or if they do, they have decided not to take up that role and option for Kev.
What Kev sitting behind an advanced Rodri, we’d be more open than we are now.

There will be a host of PL clubs after Kev.

If the people running City don't want Kev, he has every right to go where he wants to in the PL.
I doubt that very much. It's sad that KDB's time is up because he has been one of our best ever players but I think the decision not to renew his contract is correct. Age and injuries have caught up with him.

What’s he said that’s so bad? I was at the game yesterday so didn’t see any interviews, but all I’ve seen reported is that he said (when asked the question) he was surprised not to be offered a new contract - don’t see he’s said anything wrong there
Snowflake society these days

KDB has shown that, when fit, he is still one of the best players in the League. I hope City have not made a mistake by providing him an off-ramp that might be good for both parties. In fact, I hope that ship hadn’t sailed, if he and the club could agree on a suitable contract situation.

Clearly, a 2yr deal on his current structure is untenable, but 1 yr (with a club option) at a lower pay, could be a good deal for both parties.

Having his experience and ability around the team, and helping any new talent acclimate to the club, would also provide an excellent example of the expectations around the place.

I'd Kev wasn't fit, and wasn't playing well, Pep wouldn't play him in the CL run-in. He's clearly fit, dictating games, putting in performances, and being chosen to play by Pep. Is he any worse than any of our other current midfield players? Many who will be playing next season for City.

To me it's all about getting Kev's a wages off the books, which will contribute to, and pay for his replacement next season, whoever that is?

He's still a great player - more than good enough for us in my opinion.
The problem for him though mate, is he isn’t the future, his best days are behind him now and we need to replace him with the future.
It happens to all of them, was gutted when David, Yaya, Kun, Vinny and Zabba reached that point in their careers.
The club have done an amazing job getting future talent in, just waited one season to long this time.

Sorry what’s a misjudgement? KDB answering a question honestly or our senior execs pissing off a large part of our fanbase? I know which I think is bad and which one isn’t
We both agree on which is bad and which isn’t however, Firstly my comment was about club leaders being referred to as stupid, not about Kevin. Stupid they are not (115 result could change my view on that one).
Yes I do feel the issues re-fans is misjudged, and will hopefully be addressed.

Have no issue with what he’s said. As others have commented, he’s naturally quite direct.

These types of calls are always difficult when club legends are let go when they are clearly past their best but can still produce moments of magic.

I think, on balance, this is probably the right call, but there must be a prospect of this coming back to haunt us; Cruyff going to Feynoord being a case in point.

Be interesting to see if we have one lined up. We have thought this before when players have left only to go into the next season a bit light.

Pep has said in press conferences that it was his and Txiki's decision not to renew his contract.

We bought Echeverri in. He may develop but we will probably have to bring someone else in because likely we won't know about Echeverri until next season.
