Kevin De Bruyne | Napoli player

He'll have top notch medical care, for sure. But he's 34 (?) now. At that age, he'll take longer to recover than if he was 26 or 27. Also, that's likely to be a weak point going forward. Also, it's bound to be in the back of his mind when he does return.

I expect he’ll try to be in a decent condition for the World Cup then call it a day

He’s nothing to prove to anyone, won the lot and putting his body on the line again after this season seems unnecessary

But whatever he wants to do. All the best to him - him tying his shoe lace in the Villa game will be forever and iconic picture

TBH I think Kev is just a bit delusional about the state of his fitness. This will be the third season in a row he's had a massive absence, and yet somehow he still hasn't retired from international football and thought he was worth a 300k renewal playing twice a week? If we'd renewed him we wouldn't have bought cherki and we'd be up the creek right about now.

Sadly I have got to agree with this. Kudos for him moving to a competitive league but maybe he should have optimised his $$$$ in Saudi or the US. Really hope that he can get back for the World Cup and shine on that stage before calling it a day.

Retire, put your feet up and enjoy the rest of your days.
Just didn’t move anywhere hot as you’d likely spontaneously combust.

Interesting that VAR basically must have told the ref that was a pen seconds after and so he went back and awarded it. No waiting for play to stop and sending the ref to the monitor. I've watched the replays and I dont think it was a pen.

Can only wish him the absolute best for a healthy recovery.

I hope he chooses this time to reflect on his family. He seems like a strong family man and they don’t need the money he has, let alone the money he will make in the future!

I hope he chooses to dedicate the next decade or so to them, and give his body the chance to enjoy the next 50+ years without hobbling around for the rest of his life.

Kevin DeBruyne has nothing to prove to anyone when it comes to football and it is his hard work and sacrifice got his club and team mates that has put him in this position.

He has helped bring more than one tear to my eye and has given the best of himself to the club I love. For that, I will be eternally grateful and look forward to seeing him make a success of the rest of his life, whatever it holds for him and his family.

Good guy made good. I like it when life works out that way.

One of the most amazing passes I seen was from him to Sterling one side of the pitch to the other with his back turned to Sterling not knowing exactly where he was. Amazing ball.

One of the best in the PL and only Pep and our club saw it. Not Chelsea, not the sports media, not the fans (Do we still have that "Is Kevin worth his place" thread from his early days? What a ridiculous thread.
Was v Arsenal

Poor guy. His hamstring sounded in terrible shape when he spoke about it after the surgery - I think the quote was "like a wet paper towel"?

He has some serious thinking to do during this enforced absence. He doesn't strike me as the sort to have pissed all his money up against a wall, or lost it in the bookies. Or sniffed/injected it away. So I doubt there's any financial issues there. He has a young family. It may well be time to enjoy seeing them grow up. And if he wants to stay in the sport, do his coaching badges (if he hasn't already), or go and work in the media. I'm sure Belgian TV would love to have him, if he didn't fancy working for the fuckwits in Sky/BBC/TNT.

Get his coaching badges and come home to us

This could be the injury that breaks the camel’s back, Kev needs to re address his situation for the good of his health.

Love the guy but there you have it. And that would have happened here, had he stayed, the more so in that the PL is a high tempo league. Nobody is going to deny that he can still do great things on the pitch — things that only he can do — from time to time. That's not the question.
His talent has never been, and never will be, up for debate. He's up there with the King and Merlin as the best players I've actually seen in real life (not on the telly) in a City shirt. It's his fitness, and his susceptibility to muscular injuries, that's the issue. I remember the club, and Pep, getting plenty of stick on here when it became clear that Kev wasn't being kept on. It turns out to have been the correct decision.

Good luck to him in his recovery but I hope he retires into the sunset and saves himself from further frustration and upset. He can enjoy his millions and do whatever he wants, in or outside of football.

Sad to say it, but it vindicates City releasing him, and we'd be fucked even more now had we kept him. One bullet definitely dodged.
