Disgusting!

Horrible Fact about KFC:
KFC has been a part of American traditions for many years. Many people, day in and day out, eat at KFC religiously. Do they really know what they are eating? During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New Hampshire, they found some very upsetting facts. First of all, has anybody noticed that just recently, the company has changed their name?

Kentucky Fried Chicken has become KFC. Does anybody know why? We thought the real reason was because of the "FRIED" food issue.

IT'S NOT!!

The reason why they call it KFC is because they can not use the word chicken anymore. Why? KFC does not use real chickens. They actually use genetically manipulated organisms. These so called "chickens" are kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structure. They have no beaks, no feathers, and no feet. Their bone structure is dramatically shrunk to get more meat out of them. This is great for KFC.

Because they do not have to pay so much for their production costs. There is no more plucking of the feathers or the removal of the beaks and feet. The government has told them to change all of their menus so they do not say chicken anywhere. If you look closely you will notice this. Listen to their commercials, I guarantee you will not see or hear the word chicken. I find this matter to be very disturbing.

I hope people will start to realize this and let other people know .

I have heard this before and never touch the shit. What will be interesting is how this effects Halol. Muslims are taught through the Qu'ran that all animals should be treated with respect and well cared for.

By hanging them up alive and slitting their throats.

If you had read the rest of the thread you would of found out it was bullshit

Theres a lot of things on here BB which are bullshit so I have no expectations and tend not to read every word. However I can only comment on a radio programme I listened to some years back which did cover clipping the chicks beaks and force feeding them with crap that made them grow faster that the the chicks feet could not take the weight. Considering this and the current taste it wouldnt surprise me if what the OP has said has some truth!

as others have pointed out the taste over the years have deteriated
Blimey mate that would be the 99% of the chicken industry and not KFC. Chicken tastes like crap these days thats why I only buy free range at £97 million a gram
KFC do not own chicken farms

Maybe they dont BB but that does not excuse them. Think this is part of the documentary I listened to on the radio:

•The roughly 1 billion chickens killed each year for KFC's buckets are crammed by the tens of thousands into excrement-filled sheds that stink of ammonia fumes.
•The birds’ legs and wings often break because they’re bred to be too top-heavy and because workers carelessly shove them into transport crates and shackles.
•Chickens’ throats are slit and the animals are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water to remove their feathers, often while they are still conscious and able to feel pain.
•KFC lets frustrated factory-farm and slaughterhouse workers handle live birds, so many of the animals end up being sadistically abused. At a KFC “Supplier of the Year” slaughterhouse in West Virginia, workers were documented tearing the heads off live birds, spitting tobacco into their eyes, spray-painting their faces, and violently stomping on them. This was discovered more than two years after KFC promised PETA that it was taking animal welfare seriously.
•KFC hides behind its Animal Welfare Advisory Council, even though five members of the council have resigned in frustration. One of them, Adele Douglass, told the Chicago Tribune that KFC “never had any meetings. They never asked any advice, and then they touted to the press that they had this animal-welfare advisory committee. I felt like I was being used.”

How KFC Can Clean Up Its Act

PETA wants KFC to adopt the animal welfare program developed by five members of its own animal welfare board. These advisors are the world’s top poultry experts; they advise the meat industry in North America and Europe and believe that KFC can—and should—adopt them. KFC has yet to do any of the following:
•Adopt the “Animal Care Standards” program. This would lower the amount of ammonia in the air in factory farms, improve the living spaces and lighting in chicken sheds, prohibit the intentional starving of breeding birds, and ensure that birds are provided with mental and physical stimulation.
•Switch to controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK). This would prevent live birds in slaughterhouses from being abused by workers, having their throats slit, or being scalded while they were still conscious. CAK would also improve conditions for workers and decrease contamination levels in chickens’ flesh.
•Switch to mechanized chicken gathering. This would drastically reduce the number of broken bones and painful bruising that birds endure when factory-farm workers carelessly throw them into transport crates.
•Breed for health rather than rapid growth, and stop feeding drugs to chickens. This would reduce the rate at which birds suffer painful, crippling diseases and injuries, such as broken legs, heart attacks, and lung failures.
•Make all welfare standards transparent and verifiable. This would simply ensure that the animal welfare program is being adhered to through announced and unannounced independent audits (the results of which must be made available to the public through KFC’s Web site).

Food snobs the lot of you!

Why is something that comes from a food chain automatically "shit"?
If it was "shit", they wouldn't be in business very long. They actually serve a good standard of food for reasonable money. They can do this by way of large volumes.
Just like Microsoft and now maybe Apple, is it trendy to have a pop at big businesses?

We have all heard of some friend/mate family member who has gotten food poisoning from eating at KFC/BK/M'Ds. It is so easy to make stories up because there is no way of disproving it. The truth is even top restaurants suffer from food bugs from time to time. The food chain is a complex thing, and things can go wrong. It is actually a miracle that these chains don't suffer more food poisoning cases considering how widespread they are.

As for the quality of the food. Then yes, you are never going to get top quality. But you do get good quality with consistency. I have had several nephews and nieces who have worked at KFC and M'Ds. They will be the first to tell you that hygiene is at the top of the list. Good food handling and storage is part of the most basic training given. You will find most kitchens are open plan and can be seen from the counter. You can ask to inspect the kitchen at any time without notice.

Compare this to people who never eat "fast food".
Unless you grow veg and slaughter your own meat, you have no idea what you're really eating.
You can try and source local produce, therefore having a chance of knowing what's going on. But most people don't, and think paying more guarantees quality. Trust me it doesn't!
I started my working life in a meat factory. Standards were poor, yet the meat was being sold at a "premium". Things only improved once a big chain came in as a buyer. They insisted on new quality controls, and new minimum quality and standards.

We have a food snob at work. Never eats M'Ds saying it's all crap. Yet he is happy to buy a burger from a van at the side of the road. It is safe to say the M'D burger will have much more meat in it. And will have been prepared/stored and cooked in a much more controlled environment. Yet he insists he's supporting a "local trader", and it's all good home cooking. What, the 10p burger stored in a fridge that is only plugged in for a few hours a day (if you are lucky). The best bit? That 10p burger being sold for £2.50! (ok, add a barm and a few greasy onions)

To the poster who says he's seen the bottom of a KFC fryer and never eats there now. Well I can tell you they actually recover those "scratchings" and use them to make the chicken gravy. The gravy is much tastier with them bits than without!

People need to stop calling the actual food from big chains (ok we get it, you don't like it), and maybe have a go at the way they squeeze farmers and other product suppliers etc.

That seems reasonable enough to me.

It doesn't and most of the recommendations there make absolute sense just for some form of decent living. KFC as a public company needs to get its house in order in terms of suppliers but thats what these chicken houses are, they do not own them so cannot be held accountable for the chickens themselves.
Like I said they should get suppliers and pay attention to making sure they dont get chicken from these barbaric places. If people did it would stop things like this happening, KFC are not the root cause but they are part of the problem

Feel I should mention I'm vegan and have been a while and will be for the foreseeable future , but am I the only person who could care less how chickens are treated before they're killed and eaten? "I only eat free range" who cares its still dead now . If anything a mistreated chicken that's killed is basically a mercy killing. Fuck PETA anyway

Also some KFC's are halal, when I lived in b'ham there was one, not sure where the others are.
