Khaldoon's End of Season Review 2025

There are a sizeable minority in here who genuinely prefer ‘that’ City and the utter national laughing stock they - and we - were.
Not because they are closet rags, they’re not, but because they are of that disposition that just likes things being shit so they can have a perpetual moan and groan. They just truthfully get off on being unhappy and curmudgeons.
Being a blue in the 80’s and 90’s was a badge of honour. One, those of us who were there, can, and do, still wear with pride. Some people are unable to get past that sense of pride in supporting a club that gave us nothing but heartache
They hit their nirvana after the takeover when Mark Hughes was in charge. Here we were, with all the money in the world, and flirting with relegation. It was the most typical ‘typical City’ thing ever. Life didn’t get any better. They loved him.

Then we sacked him for being a wanker and in came Mancini and the story began.

They hated Mancini. Despised him. He tore down the banner and brought the good times.
He had to be hounded out.

Pellers brought a very brief hope of a return to the “cool days” but nope, he only went and won a double in his first season. The fucking corpse. He had to go too. He was hounded out and castigated in ways that still make me sick to my stomach, and always will.

Pep got a reprieve for a few years as nobody could genuinely pretend not to be impressed by the greatest manager in the world. And he was, and is, cool as cheese too so there was that. A bit of reflected glory and things settled down. For a year or three it was possible to be happy we were winning and still retain reflected cool points.
Then we won a treble and the murmurs about Pep began in earnest.
You can read it in any match day thread from this season.

Now they’re turning on the greatest chairman in the league. A man who has given us memories no football fan has any right to expect. And on the club.

Twas ever thus.

Rags have called us Berties for years. Caricatured us as being twisted, unhappy, bitter, and full of rage at the world.
Some in here just like acting up to that caricature.
It’s like extreme Stockholm syndrome and it ain’t changing any time soon.

Ignore them. Enjoy the greatest period in our history and the greatest ownership model in the whole world of sport.
Leave them to their bitter, inane, childish ramblings and their misery.

They’ll explode in rage and disappointment when we win the 115.

I can’t wait.
Like doesn't do this post justice.
And with me being an old fucker and been there in the 80s and 90s this post hits the nail perfectly on the head.
Bravo blue.

Fair enough, but that Inter Milan game, when they wore that vile shirt for a home game, stripping us of a little more of our identity, after they had overcharged for tickets, leaving thousands of unsold seats and the flattest of atmospheres, was one of the most dispiriting matches I've been to in a long time.
there's been some CL dead rubbers over the last 14 years of CL football, especially in the group stages, but that game was the most bizarrely flat evening i've ever seen. Especially considering the quality of the opposition and the context of their visit (first game since Istanbul etc). I just couldn't get over how much the ticket costed, and still can't!

Dreading the Autumn's CL games, the crowd will be as flat as a pancake no doubt.

I maybe wrong but don’t uefa set the price of the final tickets

We aren't small time anymore mate, we are a top club and expectations shift to match that. Being as shit as we was holds no relevance to today. I was there too. I remember being outside of Wembley for a gig saying to a mate, I'd love to watch us here once. We have been spoilt. It doesn't mean this season should be sugar coated and things labelled a success that aren't. If you got told at the start of the season, we would scrape CL football on the last game, a season where 5 teams get in, win nothing, compete in no other competition but get to an fa cup final and lose to Palace, you'd think I took happy pills. My original point was Khaldoon almost celebrating failure.
Man, it's going to be rough for you as a fan if winning championships is the only thing that is acceptable for you. Yes, we have high expectations but it's freaking hard to win championships and no one's been better at it than us the last 10 years. But taking third, while a little disappointing does not mean a bad season.
Spurs are a top club with big money and stadium and they ended up one spot out of relegation. How would you like to be dealing with that?
I'm grateful for the season and I think we'll come out better for having gone through it. 3rd place and CL is nothing to sneeze at.

No he’s not celebrating failure, but he is tempering his views with realism. If you can’t cope with 4 leagues on the run followed by a third then I feel sorry for you

It would save a lot of time if people actually read my posts. I HAVENT SAID WE HAVE TO WIN TITLES, I HAVENT SAID WE HAVE TO WIN IT ALL, EVERY SEASON. I have dealt with worse than your Spurs comparison, much worse. Growing up and going to Maine Road couldn't be any more character building buddy.

Exactly, 3rd place and CL is nothing to be sneezed at. It also isn't an achievement either and had you said our season would have panned out as it did, at the start of the season. We all would have been hugely disappointed. Khaldoon started the interview yesterday talking of 3 finals on the spin etc as a positive. Winning a third of them isn't a positive. That isn't me saying we have to win them, it is saying that getting to finals and losing them isn't something to claim as a positive, but after our season of very little positives, maybe it is and I am wrong.

It smacks of a well-run organisation. As he said others are beginning to copy the CFG model, and I would prefer this approach to what is going on in Trafford.

Agree to disagree. I think it's a great achievement to qualify for CL. With the injuries we had all year and the patchwork team it's even more impressive. I would like them to win the treble every year, but ain't gonna happen. If this is our floor, then we're in great shape!

Isn't the point that getting to these finals year on year is a sign of our consistently high level of performance and, therefore, something to be applauded. After all, consistently getting knocked out earlier would be a sign that we are performing at a low level.

That we have lost a couple of the finals is only an indication that we, either didn't perform as we should in these games or that we suffered from the extraordinary events that can effect these one-off games (such as inexplicable VAR decisions), or even a mixture of both.

Had we won the Cup Final it would have been a great season in my eyes. Not sure what people are expecting the guy to reveal in these interviews, he’s not going to tell us who we are in for in terms of transfers or who has been bollocked behind closed doors, it’s a PR exercise to limit any bad press and rouse the troops and where necessary, own up to any mistakes made during the course of the season.
The guy does it better than most. I’m glad he’s in our side and I reckon that if we win 115 charges thing he will then come out swinging. That good enough for me.

Fucksake he is not giving us anything here. Proper high stakes poker at play.

We all obviously got our knickers in a twist for nothing few months ago.He did slightly stumble on his words when it was first mentioned. You can imagine his brain has reacted to that and he had to hold back on what he wants to say apart from laugh and smile and formulate a response that was not reactionary.

Fuck this panel doing? Playing hide and seek all day. Last one caught gets a grand
