Too long, I'm afraid. That's the thick end of a three hour drive there and back. Presumably it's an early-ish flight, so that'd mean getting up at stupid o'clock and (again, presumably) getting into Shannon at, what; 9 or 10 that night. So; back in chez Harri at between 12:30 and 1 in the morning. Up again at 6 for work. Just not able to do that.mad4city said:You can get in and out on the day, on a Sunday, from Shannon, Jim. Admittedly, you'd have had a long day by the time you've driven up to Mayo, mind.jimharri said:Try travelling from overseas. Flight schedules mean the only games I can get over to see are saturday ones (kick off time not really an issue, as long as it's saturday). Sundays mean missing a day off work, and it's already expensive enough as it is. Matches during the week (mon-fri)? Forget it; that's two days off work.cheddar404 said:I'm sure the rule that no televised matches could be on a Saturday at 3pm was to protect the clubs' attendances from being stolen by tv audiences. However, I think it's the other way round now; Sky don't want half the country attending matches when they're showing a match. Either way, it's bollocks and matches should be at 3pm on a Saturday; we all know where we stand and can make weekend plans based around it. Fuck Sky!
Your point is a good 'un though. It's like organising the Normandy landings, planning a trip over these days.
