kick off times

I'd like to see later kick off times midweek, especially at the start and end of the season

Seems ridiculous 7.45pm kick offs and people rushing to get there from work. Just make it a 8.15 or8.30 kick off!

But what about the children?

I'm always amazed that Spanish games kick off at like 10pm! If that was in England, public transport would be long finished come the end of the game

I'm sure the rule that no televised matches could be on a Saturday at 3pm was to protect the clubs' attendances from being stolen by tv audiences. However, I think it's the other way round now; Sky don't want half the country attending matches when they're showing a match. Either way, it's bollocks and matches should be at 3pm on a Saturday; we all know where we stand and can make weekend plans based around it. Fuck Sky!
Try travelling from overseas. Flight schedules mean the only games I can get over to see are saturday ones (kick off time not really an issue, as long as it's saturday). Sundays mean missing a day off work, and it's already expensive enough as it is. Matches during the week (mon-fri)? Forget it; that's two days off work.
You can get in and out on the day, on a Sunday, from Shannon, Jim. Admittedly, you'd have had a long day by the time you've driven up to Mayo, mind.

Your point is a good 'un though. It's like organising the Normandy landings, planning a trip over these days.

For completely selfish reasons, I much prefer staggered start times. That is more soccer (football) on TV. Since I live in a small town with no soccer pubs, it works out great. I set the DVR. Get up on Saturday/Sunday and do my morning workout. Get home, shower, and then settle in for a few hours of the beautiful game. I can have two matches watched before the Mrs. pulls me out of the house to go run errands around 1:00 PM. Then get home and watch an MLS match or two and finally let the wife watch something she wants to watch as I tinker around the house. Basically the season ends right as the Giro d'Italia starts so I then shift over to that for 3 weeks. Then my schedule is completely screwed up until the Tour begins. This year will give a reprieve during the World Cup. But July is always tough.

So yeah... I'm for staggered starts.

8:30 ko would mean the match finishing at 10:15 ! then you got the journey home

Imagine how boring Sundays would be if we moved back to every team playing at 3?
