Kickback Podcast, with Nedum Onuoha This Week Noel Gallagher

I was looking forward to the Michael Johnson episode but felt like we didn’t really find out anything that we didn’t already know.

nedum was a guest on Undr the cosh & got stuck into Barton, might not come as a surprise but he’s a bit of a twat.

Ireland should have played a lot better then.
He never kicked on after a great season before.
Shite at Villa and anywhere else after.
Mancini knew what he was doing with him.
With the best will in the world , if Yaya Toure didn’t want Ireland to leave , I’ll trust his judgement before yours .

How many games would YaYa have played with him.
He had one brilliant season with us and he could not kick on from that.
Was told by Mancini and Houllier to change his head and work harder at his game.
Done neither and wasted the rest of his career.
Some of the things he did were just stupid.

Enjoyed the Johnson one given how enigmatic he’s seemed after retiring. Good to hear that he’s content with life and doesn’t have any regrets over his career.

Didn’t realise he only played 10 times after that 07/08 season, he really was fucked by injuries. Such a shame given the player he was obviously about to become.

Just had a look on their feed & can’t seem to find that episode mate. Any idea when it was uploaded?
The nearest I can see is a “Danny Mills special” where the blurb says he describes Joey as a poor man’s Roy Keane.
Clearly I’m not gonna listen to a Mills special, but would like to hear the Nedum one.

Cheers - had a look back to 2018 as all episodes are advertised as being listed on Apple pods - I still can’t find that one, but I am interested by the Michael Brown one, and also the Neil Shipperley special from 19 Aug 2019, which has the intriguing and extremely appealing sub-title of …
“Simon Jordan …. Full of S**t”

Good interview with Noel Gallagher on there today, well worth a listen.

Yes v good.

He said at the end that his next pod - the 100th - would be his last. I was bit surprised at that because he's been promoting it more recently.

Also a good John Macken just out, costs about £3 a month but you get he back catalogue. You cancel anytime.

Would be a real shame if he ended it, but maybe he's got a more lucrative media gig lined up? His broadcasting skills certainly deserve a bigger platform.

what’s great about Nedum I’d he doesn’t get involved sensationalism which is really refreshing in media & punditry.

I agree, he's said and implied enough about his time with Mancini without the sensationalism. it's give you all the indication you need.

Perhaps but he has said enough times he prefers the conversational style of broadcasting as opposed to sound bite central. He's got his contracted regular gigs now with R5Live, ESPN and his consultancy work with the Athletic. Talking about the Athletic he was on the Why Always us pod this week with David Mooney and Sam Lee and it was excellent.

Thought his interview skills with Noel were top notch. He'll go far if he wants to !
