King of the Kippax | Last ever edition (p 20)

I was looking for next kindle edition the other day and noticed it would be 300. Crossed my mind it would be a good time to bow out but surely not mid season. Bought it regularly on the way home and then kindle latterly. Great shame and I'll be sad to see it go but can understand their reasoning. It's been a great source of information and provided many laughs over the years. Many thanks and wishing them well in "retirement".

I've not read it for a while but there was a time (pre internet) when this and a few of the other City zines were staple reading, witty and often the best news source for our club - I subscribed for a good few seasons rather than pick up an issue at the match as in those days, it got a little messy and I often lost issues, so decided to get them delivered to my home!!

Whilst I don't know Dave and Sue on a personal level, I've had a few engagements with Dave and always found him to be a really good bloke.

Don't know (or care, or mind) if they've made profit from the fanzine but how they have essentially devoted the last 35 years or so, providing entertainment/information for us Blues is extremely commendable.

Fairplay to both of them and if this is the last issue - seriously well done, cannot praise them and all the other contributors highly enough
It really will be a sad day when this happens. It’s been a part of Citt going life for so long

it will be a very sad day when it ends. King of the Kippax has been a part of City going life for so long. It’s been like your Mum if you like - no matter what happens there is that underlying love for the club that remains throughout and that was reflected in the fanzine. But of course it , like your Mum, has not been uncritical of things that have happened and contributors seem to have driven various points of view.
I have occasionally chatted to Sue and Dave and that lovely, warm and understated nature they have is reflected in the fanzine.
What a far cry from so many of the narcissist assholes we see today purporting to reflect their clubs.
Writing this does make me feel nostalgic and must thank the regular contributors whose style, humour and erudition will be sorely missed.
Such a contrast to the bland advert strewn guff called the programme.
I really enjoyed BTH, Blueprint and City till I die so this is the end of a 3 generation era.
But my God, what a way to bow out with the wonderful teams and success we have enjoyed in the last 12 years. Best wishes and thanks to all involved in KoTK

Great post SLW

As said elsewhere, the fanzines were a lifeline back in pre internet days. A great source of information, and most importantly in the darkest days, humour to carry us through. As technology came in, many fell by the wayside, but KoTK continued to this day.

Well done Dave, Sue and all involved. Much appreciated. Put yer feet up now.

Amazing effort to keep this going - and as long as I've been alive too! Credit to the Wallace's for their efforts, I can imagine it's been a lot of hard work keeping it going especially in the days of the internet where there's less demand. It would be brilliant if this could somehow be taken over and carried on by others in one form or another, even if it became a website with weekly contributions from posters on here, I'd be more than willing to contribute an article about something or other, but I wouldn't have the foggiest how to do something on the scale that they've achieved!

Be very much missed. Very nostalgic, end of an era. KOTK 'born' a month after my eldest, so many memories bound up in the mag.

I wish Dave and Sue a happy and long 'retirement' - they have more than earned it. Gonna miss it can't deny, but nothing ever stays the same. Hence we won a Treble - unheard of in 1988! X

Going home & away through most of the 80 & 90s I used to look foreward to getting the next copy of K of the K, Got to know Dave quite well & he often used to go on the radio to fight citys corner when the club were in the news,
I still have an attic of old fanzines which I have a glance at now & again but cant bring myself to throw away, anyway Thanks Dave & Sue & all who helped to produce the fanzines,
Who would have thought all these years later we really would be "The best team in the land & all the World!"
