But I cant really see how a truly talented World Class player's future can ever be blighted by just a few seasons in a poor side (the City of the 90's). It just doesn't add up for me. And Kinky was still more than young enough to go on to greater things IF he had been World Class.

I doubt Robinho would have done much better in that side to be honest.

Robinho wouldn't play for a side so poor because he's too good. If he did he would soon move on to a much superior club. Kinky did - he moved to ajax and couldn't cut. It was downhill form there

No but only because Kinky stayed long enough to become a real fan favourite. But no matter what Robbie is still the better player. As well as there being no point in judging Robinho against anyone yet (only 8 months in a league of the likes he has never played in before).
