The hevc playback is what entices me with the shield; I have a 5tb hard drive loaded with content and is filling up rather fast so could do with trimming my library, no way my pi 2 is capable of playing hevc :)

Will do that. I've had android box for a year now. bit of a novice. Just starting to see what can be done.
Rather than have it all done for me. With old box most of the time was spent trying make sure stuff
kept running ok.

Love it. Just using controller as remote. So much easier than my old M8. Has a few problems playing 1080 too.
All that gone. EVERYTHING seems so smooth. Oh and quick.

We are not there yet, many changes will happen to devices.
Plex is taking over the cardshare market(mainstream) as sky update all boxs to HD. once the roll out is complete it could be the death or it could be Lazarus.
If i had money resource and brains, private network and plex is where i would go

I still use adbfire https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24566466246344871 to load Kodi

I am putting custom hevc x265 4k rips on the box now bud. Danamy has confirmed working fine over firestick. I will load the lot of them on in 2 weeks as we move to a 30TB server. x265 is advancing fast the only reason you do not see loads of rips is because of compatability with devices, the scene will not have a dedicated x265 section for about 3 years. The scene council is notoriously resisitant to change but some of us do put out 4k rips, group -DAA for example are very progressive in this arena and push the standard hard.

For now though you will have to live with me doing them for you...which ironically will end up being close to the spec scene deems viable.

Test this... NEW MOVIES\Deadpool.2015.1080p.BluRay.x265.INTERNAL-FLAME @ 4.3GB
I can assure you this is if anything better than the x264 also hence why i kept this version for the server. x264 was about 8GB

Hevc rips working on a firestick TC? That surely can't be right?
