Kodi (Bluemoon Build)

my mate has kodi through an android box he bought with a build pre set up.
It gas on it sportsmania and he pays £24 for six months access to all sports through it.

was thinking of adding it to my add ons and subscribing, but not sure if it will stream any better than stuff on castaway or pheonix etc.

Basically acestream uses a p2p protocol like a torrent; it has pros and cons

Pros:
*Quality is better than your average stream
*Less likely to go down

Cons:
*Riskier as you are uploading while downloading
*Not very good for small games

Now the reason why it is riskier is you are directly contributing to other streamers by uploading parts of the stream to other streamers, you are making a direct connection to the other streamers so your ip address is available to them. If someone from the premier league decides to join one of these streams they would be able to see your ip address; this is why a VPN keeps you safe. All of your internet traffic is routed through the private network and therefore masks your ip address meaning your ip isn't visible to others

Any questions fire away lads :)

1. How do you get a VPN? I have a firestick, which you've already said isn't compatible with a VPN, so assuming I bought some other device and put Kodi on it, then how do I get a VPN? Also, would that stop Virgin from knowing that I'd been streaming?

Simply on availability and nothing to do with game preference yesterday I was out so could not watch City match however I was able to see part of United match easily via most of the NBC streams.
Best quality was via Sports Devil app which strangely enough had the United game under its Bundesliga streams.net heading below Live Sports.

Modbro worked well also via its sports channel button and choosing NBC.

No buffering but crap commentary of course (pro United).

I use a fire tv box and I have struggled like mad to get any of the "streaming" type platforms to download have you got a step bey step idiots guide to download these to fire tv?

Yes sports mania would be reliable more reliable than free streams; however there is a danger to paying for streams as if the service gets busted then your payment details are with the company.

A VPN provider is a lot like an ISP, you pay a subscription to them and you then install the client on your device.

If you have a laptop that will definitely work matey, just plug it in to your TV on matchday

Yes it would encrypt your connection so that your ISP wouldn't know what you were doing :)

Are there any that you'd recommend?

Cheers, just a question about that as sportsmania is located in the Netherlands will the likelyhood of them being busted be very slim? with the EU rules on streaming or is it still a big risk?

Used to have operation robocop on my old Xbmc box but it seems a lot weaker since it changed to bulldog.

I use Nord VPN mate, TCIB also uses these guys I believe :)

Honestly it's impossible to know; a few days ago the biggest private music tracker (which I never thought would get busted) was raided and shut down. I would make sure you use a VPN and only pay with bitcoin, this would more than likely keep you safe mate :)

Cheers again, I know they use stripe for payments by card only. I was hesitant to subscribe to it but as it seems to be used by quite a lot people reading a lot of forum searches, didn't see it as a worry, but will have a think about it now.

Wouldn't have thought a policing agency would be arsed to waste time on the subscribers details, just closing down the providers, and scraping the sites.

Yeah for a while the authorities have never really cared about piracy but that really does seem to be changing to be honest mate, you probably would be okay but it's always a good idea to take steps to protect yourself :)

.nl is not the safe haven it once was, two years ago a law was passed that enabled BREIN (dutch anti piracy) much tougher powers and they are knocking the shit out of the dutch filesharing scene tbh. The odds of a dutch site being busted is now on par with it being hosted most other places sadly.

Edit: Yeah i use nordvpn, they are very good if you are security conscious.

As my kodi is on fire tv can the same model of loading it onto the stick it be used to install a vpn app from googleplay and would.it work, I know it was said they are not compatable, but is ot worth trying anyway?

Cheers bud :)

You're welcome to give it a go but I'm 90 percent sure it wouldn't work :)

You are probably right, it was a suggestion on a tech review site claiming Openvpn app on google play might work though it also said the best option was a virtual router with ExpressVPN the prefered option

https://torrentfreak.com/uk-piracy-blocklist-silently-expands-with-hundreds-of-domains-161120/

I saw the title, clicked, saw my scroll bar almost disappear...well that's not good xD
That is a huge list, these are the sources for a lot of kodi film links right?
I understand from their point of view with going after piracy at the source (takedowns, busts etc) but I will never understand the point of URL blocks; all that is required is a new domain name. Seems like a waste of time to me tbh TC

They are refining the process, soon this will all be done in close to real time for no other reason that it will save them money. This method is used to create hurdles for users whilst F.A.C.T and police go after the site owners. If the url blocking dissuades a few hundred users each time that would be considered a success probably. Some sites won't survive and that will leave just a few sites which they can focus on, that seems to be the plan imo.

Can't really argue with that haha :)
