Manchester City ‘join race for £46million transfer of Atletico Madrid star Koke’

Manchester City have joined the race to complete the £46million transfer of Atletico Madrid star Koke.

The Citizens are keen to land the Spaniard who they view as a replacement for Yaya Toure. According to the Sun.

The Spanish international, 23, looks set to leave Madrid this summer and a host of clubs are keen to land him.

City’s Premier League rivals Chelsea are believed to be favourites to land his signature as they have a good history of business with Atletico.

But City are still confident of securing a deal and could table a bid in the coming weeks.

If Koke wants to play entertaining football then I'd hope he chooses us.

Di Marzio saying Felipe Luis and Jose not getting on, wants to go back to Athletico....talks have commence and chelsea want both koke and Diego godin.

I expect that Koke and Godin are well aware of how Luis's move worked out for him. IMO Koke has to decide whether he gives up on a portion of his amazing ability (like Hazard has) in order to continue playing really ugly football. Koke needs to go to a club that will use him to his potential. Simeone and Jose may make him unimaginably rich but will also stunt his growth.
Yeah, lets just ignore how well Chelsea played on the first half of the season,if he wants to grow as a player he should absolutely go to Chelsea, and we transformed Hazard into the best player in England,at Real or Barca he would have to play for Messi and Ronaldo.
Oh and we are going to sign Griezmann to,he is refusing to sign a new contract to see if we will make a serious attempt to sign him,so yeah things are looking great for us

The race took place last November and we won it.
(According to my Athletico ITK in Madrid - who got the Aguero transfer spot on the March/April before it happened!)

Thanks man for the clear, straight info.

Koke is going to Chelsea ... our CM targets are Pogba for Toure and Wilshere to replace Lampard and fill the HG quota ... If we get those two over the line it will make us much stronger IMO ... Toure had a great 13/14 season but he can't hack it in the hustle bustle of the PL and provides virtually nil protection defensively ....

Koke is nowhere near as talented as Pogba, but he is a very disciplined midfield player who can defend and attack. His work rate is excellent and i feel that although he is not the most fashionable and pleasing player on the eye, he is a player that every side needs. I would love a Pogba, Fernandinho and Koke midfield.

While were at it can i just sat that Koke is more of an AM and Pogba is more of a DM. They are not competing for the same spot in any team! Look it up on the transfer web sites if you don't believe me.

One of a number if stories in the Spanish press that circulated in early December. Txiki spent a good 3 days with the hierarchy at Atletico.
