Kolarov retires

Good luck in retirement Alex. Him and Edin have proven they are Blues for the long haul. Yes the image of Alex and Edin at the swamp after the 6th, is one of the best.

Brilliant going forward but slow getting back. Alex was involved in one of the few low points of the Sheikh Mansour era. He had put in a man of the match performance and much of the crowd chanted, “There’s only one Jimmy Milner” (who’d also had a good game). They sided with the guy desperate to go to the bin dippers.

So now when I read that Pep says we give unconditional support, that’s something fairly new. It’s players like Alex and Edin who won fans over, sometimes after their departures.
Agree 100%. Funny how things turn out isn't it ? Milner is one of the very few, if any, that has never had the "Once a Blue" song from us. Never will, IMHO.
My favourite memory of Kolarov is the 2012 PL trophy presentation photo with all the ticker tape and Aleks clearly breaking down in tears of joy.

served very well and good luck, some of those free kicks and crosses to sergio and tevez where top drawer

cant forget when some fans tried to coach from their seats and shout to kolarov to press the winger not sit back, they called him every name under the sun which was out of order. Kolarov looked round held his shirt badge to question what they had said. The fans shouted even more abuse, kolarov pointed over to the fans and pointed to the floor near him to say "well come on then".. Do we want to see that in football ? No we dont, the wrong doing was with the fans.

He got a praise and criticism in equal measures , he was a good full back on his day but had a few crap games like all players do , liked his attitude he didnt take any prisoners on the field and when he was criiticised by the match going crowd he gave as good as he got.
Will never be considered our best left back or greatest signing , but he did a decent job and helped with the progression of our club to its current stature.
At 37 years old he has had over 20 years playing top level football so he's entitled to put his feet up , and he will always get a warm reception at the Etihad.

when he scored vs Bournemouth..
always loved him for work ethic, he always tried his best
