So nobody apart from Madrid has a top class backup LB, it just doesn't happen, most have young up and comers understudying and then they blood them, and in big games they may move their RB over (like we would with Zaba) and cover it that way.
And for me Zaba has covered that left back position far better than Kolarov ever could.
Aye, If Micah is fit I would concede the point there.
But if thats the case and we do sell Kolorov and not replace him we are very lob-sided. We have 3rb's and 1LB!

I know its a tough ask....but then again we are supposed to have an excellent scouting network etc.
I would look to offload Kolarov and bring in a decent player ( not worldy or anything like that as Clichy is good enough to be first choice IMHO ) who can play either LB or Left Mid.
I know there wont be many but by getting someone who can cover for both positions on left side that will assist in squad roatation as I feel left mid has been a weak spot for us for too long.

What about Mattia De Sciglio from AC Milan? Young (20) and versatile (right footed but I think he played about half his games at left back last season, and has played there for Italy) and is starting to rack up a few caps now. Haven't looked out for him in the Confeds cup and generally don't know much about him personally, and maybe Milan see him as a long term replacement for Abate and won't let him go, but surely worth enquiring?

Your league makes the SPL look competitive, it's not like you have much else to play for each season.

He wont be a a long term replacement for Abate, he is only early 20's himself unless I'm mistaken.
