been reading an arsenal forum and not many of them seem like they will miss him very much
i was reading an arsenal forum earlier and they all seem pretty gutted about it, mind you its that thing all fans use as defence mechanism isn't it . . . . "never wanted him anyway senderos and djohrou are much better" type thing, most fans are guilty of relaying remarks similar
I'd be very worried if I was an Arsenal fan.

They've taken their place in the top 4 for granted for so long. I don't think they will go into the new season with anything like the optimism that they will have had in previous seasons.

That might be a good thing as their players will know they have to give their all

There we go, Marvin and I agree on something.

If he was to come, and be in the first team it would be at the expense of Onuoha, not Dunne.

i expect Lescott to be his partner at the back with Ned as back up, personally will be gutted to think Ned may have to settle for a place on the bench as imo Ned will be England's first choice centre half by World Cup 2014.

i just hope Ned stays and appreciates he can learn from Kolo and Lescott.

Am I being unduly pessimistic about this signing.

Toure was part of the Arsenal defence last season that lost away to the likes of Fulham,Burnley and Stoke, lost at home to Hull and Villa and drew with Boro.
He also played against Notlob away when the Arse struggled for the last couple of seasons.

Just the type of teams we have struggled against in recent years. Is he going to improve us against the hoof it and chase teams

Any thoughts

I never thought we struggled to defend against them, we just struggled to score then we over stretched ourselves trying to score.

Same, i really hope Ned keeps his place, has done absolutely nothing wrong and has evey characteristic needed for a top class defender. Better off learning by playing, rather than by training with players who are perhaps marginally better than you.

I take a very simple view: is Toure good enough to be part of a top four / Champions League side? Answer is selfevidently yes, so he will improve us.

A man who speaks sense.

I'd say we definitely need another central defender (if not two), in addition to a another box-to-box midfielder.[/quote]

Would you not consider Michael Johnson to be our box to box midfielder if he's fit? It's that long since I've seen him I couldn't say if he's fit or not but it's interesting that Micah mentions him in the video as challenging for a place!
