Kolo Toure [Merged]

last time SSN reported something like this it was for Adebayor so i think it is just a formality that will be sorted out

Hey now you're saying we lost a bleedin 16 mill, and you're saying Gallas and vermaeleen are the first choice.

This is how the season started for toure,he missed all of august and september due to malaria, hence his low appearence rate.

He then missed part of october till november.

Djourou and Gallas filled the gap but they milked alot of goals.

Now when he came back arsenal went undefeated in the league until the game against chelsea and most of the time without fabregas.

If that doesnt sum up why he missed many appearances then i don't know what would.

If getting and infection makes you a shit player and doesn't give you an excuse to not play then we can all now go and say that micah richards will never be the same because he got swine flu if we are to go by your theory.

When Toure got back to full fitness at the end of last season Arsenal lost 1 out of their last 9 premiership games with him playing....
ignore him and hopefully he will go lol

Obviously City have been blind-sided by this. There can be no doubt City are stunned by latest developments. It goes without saying the corner-shop continues. It's such a shame we had no idea about this.

Mexes, I see we have another FM09 fan here.

Nope, I've watched Serie A all my life, Mexes isn't a top class CB but he's sure as hell better than Toure.

Who said Mexes is slow?!!! OMG, get a grip! Pace is one aspect of the game where Mexes isn't lacking, wow. What a stupid thing to say, surely that was a guess mate...

He makes so many mistakes whenever I've seen him and yes he is slow, seen him get outpaced by Inzaghi before.

Thank you!
And how can Ant guarantee that vermaeleen and gallas will be first choice? You are just guessing that!!

AntMcfc - why can't you answer the questions put forward to you about his appearances under Wenger and medals??

'Cos I'm getting 5 responses per minute. Medals, exactly how many medals in the last 5 years? ZERO. NONE. SWEET F.A. 5 years ago he was world class and I'd have given anything for City to sign him, right now he is a shadow of his former self and a CB that isn't good enough for the standard we should be aiming for. Kompany and Lescott are both miles better.

His appearances, they've been going down season by season and last season was the fewest starts he's made since he became a first team regular. He is not Arsenal's first choice anymore, Gallas and Vermaelen are, so now he is surplus to requirements at Arsenal, and they've just milked the fcuk out of us for 16 bleedin' million. I posted a very indepth look at Toure last night, but I haven't seen any responses to it.
Vermaelen was signed as a replacement for Toure. This was because Toure, in January, handed in a transfer request, which was denied. Arsenal knew he wanted out, and that he wouldn't be at the club much longer, so they signed a replacement. Pretty simple. Doesn't mean they don't rate him, or that he's not a first team regular based on ability.

As for appearances, yes he has played less in the last couple of seasons, but much of that has been down to a couple of niggling injuries and being rested for domestic cup matches.

Look at the figures:-

2002/3 - 40 Appearances, 26 in the league, 7 in Domestic Cups.
2003/4 - 55 Appearances, 37 in the league, 8 in Domestic Cups.
2004/5 - 50 Appearances, 35 in the league, 7 in Domestic Cups.
2005/6 - 46 Appearances, 33 in the league, 1 in Domestic Cups.
2006/7 - 53 Appearances, 35 in the league, 8 in Domestic Cups.
2007/8 - 41 Appearances, 30 in the league, 2 in Domestic Cups.
2008/9 - 41 Appearances, 29 in the league, 3 in Domestic Cups.

It's a drop off in the overall number of appearances but 50% of those can be attributed to injury and 50% to less FA Cup/League Cup appearances.

Just goes to show the old adage is true, there are lies, damn lies and statistics.
