look i wouldn't say no to Bruno Alves for example [not even sure i've seen him play as i generally boycott the wankers league] but i'd imagine he's the kinda top European centre half we'd love, but Lescott is a premium for his various key attributes, English int., can play left back /left footed and young... oh and f^ck up one of our rivals too!! - - oh shit this is a Toure thread, love 'im i would

Bruno Alves is the man for us, no doubt. But just to point out, Lescott is about 27, he isn't young.

Bruno Alves is the man for us, no doubt. But just to point out, Lescott is about 27, he isn't young.

We shouldn't look at centre halves from the Italian league. That includes Chiellini, Zapata or even Santacroce. The game is very different from what it would be like in the Premiership.

Gallas and Vermaelen are both miles better, whilst Senderos, possibly Djourou and even Alex Song are better than Toure. I'd seriously rather we signed Alex Song than Toure.

How can he fail to improve a squad that finished 9th and let so many goals in?

Zapata is a pile of wank, Serie A's equivalent of Micah Richards at CB. Chiellini is the 5th best CB in the world, I don't care what league you play in when you're that good. Santacroce is overhyped, a top talent and real good player for the future, but too young and raw right now to be any kind of success. Bocchetti is where it's at right now, gonna be a world class CB soon enough. Linked with West Ham at some point which worries me, as we'll probably end up paying West Ham 30m for him in 2 years time.
