kolo's performance

My thoughts on Kolo yesterday were mixed in an overall average team performance and I say average not poor as we still managed to have more posession than Pool at Anfield. Hes clearly not match sharp due to lack of games and unfortunately was playing against a 17 year old with pace to burn as their wing outlet and despite being a bit heavy to boot didnt get done for pace once I can remember. No hes not a starter in our first 11 but defensively I though Kolorov was a far greater liability. It was his distribution which let him down badly and not sure if that was partly down to how ineffective our midfield were at times in making themselves available for an easy out ball. The difficulty is finding a good enough replacement who is prepared to sit on the bench if you consider VK and JL as our first choice in a back 4 or the addition of RIchards or Zab in a 3. Just who is available who's good enough?

Perhaps Mancini was sending the message, "this is what will happen if we don't sign another central defender".

He seems keen on using 3-5-2, so we will be seeing more of Kolo if no-one comes in before Friday.

I agree though, he has always been poor for us, even under Hughes, I was never comfortable with him and Lescott at the back.

This.

Mancini letting the board know that the squad players we have are not good enough. Part of the genius of the man....

He was no worse than Kompany or Zabaleta on the day. I thought he did ok and some of the criticism is harsh.

He still has pace, we should consider him for the right wing back position.

Did well at right back a couple of times last season as I recall.

Are we struggling to find a buyer or is it just Kolo who has rejected all offers? Or why is he still at City? To me he is very close to the bracket of Ade, RSC, Bridge in terms of "deadwood". Isn't he on about 120k/a week aswell? Shocking...

Any chance he will be sold this window?

dont want to turn it into a witch hunt, but kolo scares the shit out of me everytime he plays, everything seems to be hurried or a panic, nowhere near the fantastic player arsenal had.

he also has an uncanny knack of getting drawn to the ball, and making a mistake, allowing the opposition in behind.

not really sure if he will ever regain his arsenal form, and in a back 3 is way too much of a liability.

for someone clearly desperate to play, he cannot argue about being dropped on the back of yesterdays display

He was also fantastic for us when we first signed him

-- Mon Aug 27, 2012 6:12 pm --

I seriously doubt it as that would leave us with only Savic and Boyata as back up and Kolo is better than them both!

I thought he played well tbf. Did a good job on going across and helping out the full back against Sterling. He stifled the youngster many times in the game and matched him for pace.
