Kompany and Demichelis

We conceded 3 goals in 7 games with Mangala playing 6 of those games from late November to Boxing Day, so no we don't HAVE to play Kompany/Demichelis together to have any chance. We have to play a system where the team defends as a unit, not leaving defenders exposed. Kompany looks more error prone than Mangala at the moment.

Yup!

Kompany will need to do a lot better than he did for their goal. Never mind the crap about worried he might deflect it in, it went in anyway. Been making poor decisions all season when he's been fit. Very worrying
The ball in by Hazard was perfect, from the tv angle it may have looked like he had a chance to get a toe on it but the reality is he wasn't gonna get to it. He played well today. Still the odd scare but definitely better than his last two games. He gets a run without injury and we'll have him back to his best at the most important part of the season. Not worrying in the slightest.

Perhaps you should?

Kompany's record suggests that he will pick up a recurring injury.

Hope I'm wrong to be honest.

I disagree, like someone said above our system atm is leaving the defence exposed more than it should be.

Though Kompany is taking way too many risks at the moment and trying to play too much football from the back instead of keeping it simple. It wasn't really his fault for their goal today, Sagna fell asleep and was tucked in too far.

I recall Mangala and Demichelis being solid in Decemeber, Demichelis is certainly more calm and composed than Kompany at this moment in time.

Kompany looks and plays rusty ... his decision making at the moment is the same. He needs DeMike to step up with his experience more and help his buddy out more and cant be intimidated or scared to sometimes tell Vinny what to do.

Overall, was a very much improved defensive performance. Cleared the lines when it was the best thing to do instead of playimg silly beggars. Were was drilled with what they had to do and it showed.

A couple of mistakes one the goal, Clichy shouldn't be going shoulder to shoulder with Willian there, his job all game was to just clear it and Vinny has to cut out that ball, even if its a 50/50 chance its kicked out wide or in the back of his own net, you don't let the ball pass you.

Overall ... much improved. No doubt it will be rotated next game undoing all the hard work again.

I find Demi to be much better than Mangala and that is scary. Demi is much older but still I haven't seen anything from Mangala that screams world class, or future man city CB. i know the PL takes time in adjusting to, but with defenders they either have it or they don't. How many defenders have started as poor defensively as Mangala and ended up world class. Bar his debut I haven't seen one very good performance from him since. He isn't even that good on the ball which makes matters worse. Luiz was a poor defender but at least he was comfortable with the ball.

He is like the CB version of M.Richards.

So yeah...Demi and Company till the season end.

"How many defenders have started as poor defensively as Mangala and ended up world class" ..... Try Vidic and Evra for a couple of starters. Evra's debut was as bad a performance I have seen in the Prem.
Vidic was ordinary for a long while ..... the rest is history.

Give the bloke a chance , he is still young , raw and getting used to to a new league , team and country.

He certainly does. Kompany makes my arse twitch every time he's got the ball at the moment. Almost like he's trying to be too clever, and whoops he's been mugged in possession or played a sloppy pass. Doesn't look happy either. He'll come good again without question, but right now we're no worse off if he doesn't play

Aren't Kompany and Demichelis the last two City players to score from corners?
No, I think it's Dave Ewing and Roy Paul!
