Kompany calls on Premier League clubs to drop ticket prices

Kompany is absolutely spot on. It's only really repeating what fans have been saying for a long time, but at least it gets some media coverage when it comes from a high profile player.

Hopefully at some point the clubs will start to listen, and the away ticket price cap was a good start, but I won't hold my breath. Whilst fans are too pre-occupied mocking rivals' attendances, rather than addressing the underlying reasons for it, then there's little hope. Supporters need to come together on this, but probably won't.
When one club upped their SC prices in Germany one year, every set of fans in the Bundesliga marched with banners and songs in support for the fans in question. Just Google "german fans protest over ticket prices" and see how orgainsed and vocal they are over there with this topic and how often they protest.

Both City and United fans could have marched together in the city centre one day or both done a boycott of a game (let's say this weekend would have been ideal with them at home tonight and us at home tomorrow). Yet what we have instead is a load of fans who say nothing and take it up the arse and then mock each other for it (like the "Emptyhad" jibes from Rags on a weekly basis). Fans are more interested in taking the piss out of a rival than they are understanding the long term affects on the football culture of a country or league.

Mate, my job involves flying round in a big red truck with blue lights flashing meaning I work shifts. I move heaven and high water to get to games and then have the rug pulled with fixture changes due to TV to make it even worse. If I can't go I try and give my seat away for free. As a last resort I use the ticket exchange, and for me it's bordering on criminal if my seat ever goes empty. So your suggestion is not very good in a nutshell.
His suggestion is great as it sounds like it wouldn’t affect you.

There are a few on here that simply pick and choose and enjoy announcing they aren’t going “because it’s raining”. If SC were £200 for a season there’d be many that just picked and chose.

Well said and you could apply that to all sorts of other gripes in life, such as low wages, zero hour contracts, rising retirement age etc. We live in a country full of "I'm alright pal" twats.

and they wonder why people turn to illegal streaming services. the greedy barstewards just dont get it.. the FA, sky and Bt are spending a fortune paying for the isp services to block streams on match days. that cost could be massively reduced by insisting low gate prices beng added to the tv contracts they set up with the clubs.... just sayin

I hope he cleared this interview with the powers that be - it's like a car salesman saying you could sell more cars if they were dead cheap...

I do agree with his thoughts though...

The only way things will change is if the accountants that administer the game are forced out and replaced by people like Vinny. But unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

As for our club I think we are treated better than most but even we aren't that great and have made numerous mistakes and think the whole ticketing policy should be ripped up and replaced. I had a season ticket for 30 years up until this season as the financial cost on the family and my growing disillusion of the way tickets are distributed to favour people with more cash or corporate guests. Final straw for me was last season when wanted to treat the kids and wife and tried to buy tickets for the family stand. Only to be told it was sold out. However I could pay three times as much to sit in the third tier. At the game I noticed whole sections of empty seats and when I complained to the club was informed that these are blocked out for corporate and guests of the club.

Unfortunately this is not just an isolated incident as posts on here regarding tickets for away games, moving fans to fit in corporate seats etc go to show.

Rant over and here's hoping someday that Vinny will take his sword then storming the ticket office and ivory towers of the F.A.

Many blues have been priced out of football, as many other clubs supporters have, not just the ticket price but the full cost of going to games. With the convenience of many games being televised, many will just watch us on TV. Former supporters who went home and away are not going now. Reducing ticket prices is a step forward in enticing fans back.

Just because it doesn't suit you personally doesn't mean it is not a good idea. You would be no worse off than you are now.

Spurs last night.

Similar scenes at our place, at the Emirates, etc.

Fans have finally had enough.

Christmas and New Year are killers for football fans. Skint, partied out, too much football, etc.

A Winter break from Christmas to the 3rd round of the FA Cup is well over due.

But the PL won't have it, as that is the time of year when the PL get's it's most exposure around the World, as leagues in Spain, Germany and Italy take a Winter break.

The PL don't give a shit about the fans. Neither do the clubs TBH.

But the sight of more and more empty seats during the Christmas period and into the New year may start to focus minds in the boardrooms?

I`m not asking the premier League to give a fuck about the fans, but I`m a 100% sure the many sponser of teams, trophies and leagues want to see full stands not rows and rows of empty seats as above. In fact having full grounds could create higher revenue streams than empty ones
